In thinking about the two possibilities for our next President, I wondered what the rest of the world might do in view of which one won. It kinda scared me a bit to think about the possibilities.Carter was such a nice guy, and a softy, the Iranians and others walked all over him with punity and knew they could get away with it. Of course the day Reagan was sworn in, the Iranians released the hostages, knowing full well what Regan would do in a second.The same kind of thinking probably exists now, as we breath.
Vivian Marie (York) Dobbs, age 87, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, at the Littlefork Care Center.
Vivian was born Aug. 16, 1921, at Cullman, Ala., to Carl and Fannie York.
She was united in marriage to David Ezra Dobbs Jr. on June 13, 1937, in Cullman. In 1937 they moved to Indus where they resided and farmed.

The Northwoods Bible Church in Ray was granted a road vacation after a heated discussion Tuesday on access to a lot adjacent to the road.
The Koochiching County Board voted 4-1 to vacate Unorganized Township Road 179 in Ray. Commissioner Kallie Briggs voted against the motion, stating that vacating the road would eliminate access to Lot No. 30, which is between the church’s property and U.S. Highway 53. About nine people attended the meeting.
A yes vote keeps money in the district and will not raise taxes
On the Nov. 4 election ballot, voters of the Littlefork-Big Falls Independent School District No. 362 will be asked to vote on the following question:
“Shall the school board of the Littlefork-Big Falls Independent School District No. 362 be authorized to issue general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $495,000 to finance classroom upgrades and technology improvements, and other costs related to the acquisition of equipment and betterment of school facilities?”
A body of a 44-year-old Big Falls woman was discovered during a fire at a Big Falls trailer Monday.
The body of Karen Marie Oehlerking, 44, 504 First St., Big Falls, was found when Big Falls firefighters went inside the trailer at that address after extinguishing the fire, according to Koochiching County Undersheriff Brian Jespersen.
An autopsy is expected to be completed to determine the cause of death, according to Jespersen. Law enforcement officials do not suspect foul play.
Koochiching County Veteran’s Service Officer Allen Kruse told Koochiching County commissioners Tuesday that concerns Good Samaritan Administrator Adam Coe has about a proposed Veteran’s Affairs nursing home built in the community mirror those of Littlefork nursing home Administrator Calvin Olson.
Kruse has proposed the county attempt to be chosen by the state as the next location of a VA home. Olson and Coe are concerned that if the home is built, existing nursing homes would be unable to compete with the state facility for nursing staff, according to Kruse.
Casareto’s 1-yard plunge with 58 seconds left caps big upset
EVELETH — Jacob Casareto’s gritty 1-yard touchdown run with 58 seconds remaining Tuesday capped a wild comeback in International Falls’ 24-21 upset victory over Eveleth-Gilbert in the Section 7AAA Tournament.
The No. 7 Broncos (2-7), who entered the playoffs reeling from a 1-7 regular season, avenged a 43-28 loss to the No. 2 Golden Bears (4-5) on Sept. 27, and silenced a boatload of doubters.
Bryce Ziemba rushed for 204 yards and four touchdowns Tuesday — on only 16 carries — to lead top-seeded Littlefork-Big Falls past No. 8 Babbitt-Embarrass 52-0 in the opening round of the Section 7 9-man Tournament at John Thompson Field.
Three of those touchdown runs came in the first quarter alone as the Vikings sprinted out to a 38-0 lead. During the regular season, L-BF crushed the Knights 42-6, with all 42 points coming in the first half.
“He had an outstanding game finding the holes,” Vikings coach Derek Bilben said about Ziemba.
