Unsafe costumes can make Halloween way too spooky.
The same flame that makes the front porch jack-o-lantern glow eerily can set fire to a risky costume, and the big orange candle in the dining room is cozy until Dracula drapes his sleeve over it.
According to the Minnesota State Fire Marshal, about 3,400 adults and children are treated in America’s emergency rooms each year for candle-related burn injuries.

L-BF to spend Halloween night taking on No. 3 Mountain Iron-Buhl in Section 7 Nine-Man championship
LITTLEFORK — Gage Klemetsen and the top-seeded Littlefork-Big Falls Vikings scored on the first play of the game and on the first play of the second half Saturday in a 48-0 rout of No. 4 Cherry in the Section 7 Nine-Man semifinals.
“It was a big one,” Klemetsen said about his first touchdown on the first play from scrimmage. “We knew we couldn’t take them lightly.”
HIBBING — Littlefork-Big Falls had its season come to a close Friday in a 3-0 loss to top-seeded Deer River in the Section 7A Tournament at Lincoln Elementary School (25-16, 25-11, 25-10).
The fourth-seeded Vikings (16-10) played well early and had the match tied at 13 in Game 1, but a string of strong serving and an over-powering offense by the Warriors (24-5) was too much to overcome.
