International Falls resident Thomas Walls died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, at his home.
A complete obituary will be announced when arrangements have been completed.

Eunice Adee-Braford, of International Falls, Minn., died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 at the Evergreen Terrace Care Facility, Grand Rapids, Minn. Eunice was 78 years of age.
Born Jan. 24, 1930, in International Falls, Eunice was a lifelong resident of the Falls and grew up on the Van Lynn Road. She attended school in International Falls.
She was united in marriage to Lyman Adee on Jan. 24, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1963.
Harry Walter Johnson, age 101, of International Falls, Minn., died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, at Falls Good Samaritan Center.
He was born July 19, 1907, at Hayward, Wis., to Norwegian immigrants Edward and Johana Johnson. He was the youngest of nine children.
Harry was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in International Falls, a place where his parents were charter members.
Harry moved to International Falls in 1912 and settled in Sawmill Addition, a small neighborhood just east of the city limits.
Mona (Lonergan) Acres, 82, formerly of International Falls, passed away Nov. 4, 2008, in Tucson, Ariz., after a 10-year battle with cancer. Her strength and courage were an inspiration to all who knew her.
She married Jerry Lonergan in 1946 and together they operated Lonergans Resort on Lake Kabetogama until moving to the Falls.
She was an excellent fisherman, duck and goose hunter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, two brothers, former husband Jerry Lonergan, and husband Ed Acres.
Minnesota residents have a new option for receiving discounts on their prescription medications.
The Minnesota Drug Card Program was begun by the United Networks of America, a provider of managed care products and services. The card is expected to provide average savings of about 30 percent off retail prices.

Lights, music — time to build a float
In keeping with Borderland tradition, main street in International Falls will be the scene of twinkling lights parading down main street and a host of other holiday features and events on the evening following Thanksgiving.
The International Falls Area Chamber of Commerce is encouraging residents and businesses in the community to create holiday floats to show off in the “’Twas the Lights Before Christmas Parade” which begins at 7 p.m. on Friday.
The Koochiching County Board is scheduled to discuss the highlights of the local 4-H program during its meeting Tuesday.
The 4-H discussion with Jan Derdowski, 4-H Extension educator, is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
The board meeting is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. in the courthouse boardroom.
The board is expected to approve the 2009 county board salary and per diem and, at 10:30 a.m. to discuss canister site contracts during Environmental Services Department business.
Lindberg and Bruess finish well as individuals and relays garner strong performances
HIBBING — The Falls Broncos girls swimming and diving team finished the 2008 season Saturday with a strong showing at the Section 7A championships.
“I think we did as well as we could have expected,” head coach Jill Herzig said. “We again dropped time. And we beat our expectations, but I don’t think we could have moved up many places.”
Elson praises short-handed squad
International Falls opened the season with a loss Friday and a tie Saturday, but third-year coach Bruce Elson had good things to say — about the girls who were there.
“They worked hard and did all I could ask of them,” Elson said, noting he had only 10 girls for the two days.
Rainy River struggled early Saturday in a 64-35 loss to Fergus Falls in the season-opener.
However, RRCC coach Tim Myles thinks his team will be much better than last year’s 3-19 season.
“The score didn’t show it, but we’re much stronger, Myles said.
Freshman Asha Johnson led the Voyageurs (0-1) with 11 points, while Monica McAllister tallied eight.
Claudia Henriquez scored seven points and Kayla Cluff had four points and a team-high seven rebounds for the Voyageurs.
“We just have to play a little better defensively and communicate more,” Myles said.
