Armband Religion

I got tired this week reading our blog -- Dead Sea Scrolls and appeals to personal biblical interpretations, even me talking about redemption and Republicans. In a moment some consider sanity and others insanity, conservative columnist Kathleen Parker started her editorial in today's Washing Post with these words: "As Republicans sort out the reasons for their defeat, they likely will overlook or dismiss the gorilla in the pulpit.

Three little letters, great big problem: G-O-D.

I'm bathing in holy water as I type.

Poll on four-day week to be mailed in next few weeks

LITTLEFORK — In a short review at its third meeting in three consecutive days, the Littlefork-Big Falls School Board Wednesday sized up public input received on a proposed L-BF four-day school week.
At public forums on Monday in Littlefork, and on Tuesday in Big Falls, significant disapproval of a change in schedule for L-BF students was voiced in large turnouts at both meetings. The length of the school day and sport conflicts were among major concerns.

What appears to be a rash of burglaries at area businesses has some merchants concerned and afraid.
According to Koochiching County law enforcement agencies, several businesses have been forcibly entered and cash and a few other small items taken. In most cases, tools used to pry open the back door to the businesses have been left.
“That this is the same person, or same group of people — the probability is high,” said Falls Police Chief Chris Raboin.

New book uses Ernest Oberholtzer’s expedition journals

Much has been written about the early exploration of the Northwest Passage and some of the overland routes used to map and explore the northern reaches of Canada. But the central travel corridor into what remains today the heart of Canada’s northern wilderness — the old way north — remains shrouded in mystery and uncelebrated, its natural and cultural history largely unknown.

Thumbs up to L-BF community
Thumbs up to the Littlefork-Big Falls school district community for attending informational meetings about a four-day school week. Many of those attending the meetings would not be directly impacted, but attended to hear about the idea as a member of the larger community.

Thumbs up to survivors
