Lee Charles Anderson, 51, of Columbia, Md., died unexpectedly Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at his home.
He was born Oct. 20, 1957, in International Falls, attended St. Thomas School and graduated from Falls High School in 1976.
An avid musician, Lee was a drummer in the Dirty Dozen and Falls High stage bands in high school and later played with other bands in the Falls area.
He graduated from Iowa State University in 1980 with a bachelor of science degree in meteorology.



Louise Frances Smith, 78

Louise Frances Smith, 78, of International Falls, died Monday morning, Nov. 3, 2008 at the Ranier Roost.
Louise was born June 26, 1930 in South International Falls and was a lifelong resident of the Falls area.
The former Louise Glubka married Thomas J. Smith on July 7, 1951. They settled in International Falls and moved out to the family farm in 1980 where she lived until 2006 when she moved to the Ranier Roost.

Eleanor “Taps” Hausmann, 85, of International Falls, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, at Falls Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 29, 1923, in Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada, to Peter and Pheobe (Walton) Bruneau.
The family moved to International Falls in 1935.
She graduated from Falls High School in 1941, the same year she married Alvin “Babe” Hausmann.



Raymond Floyd O’Brien, 86

Raymond Floyd O’Brien died Oct. 29, 2008, at the age of 86, after an extended illness.
He was born July 11, 1922, in Denison, Iowa, to Raymond and Elina O’Brien and moved to northern Minnesota at a young age.
He attended school in the Falls, and started logging in his teens.
He served in the United States Army during World War II and received numerous awards including a Purple Heart and a Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
Returning to the Falls, he was united in marriage to Marian Weir on Feb. 2, 1948.

Truman Lindvall, age 70, of Littlefork, died unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008 in Littlefork.
Truman was born April 29, 1938 in Littlefork to Stanley and Goldy Lindvall.
He graduated from Littlefork High School in 1956. After graduation, Truman joined the Air Force and served his country for four years. He went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota with a bachelors degree from UMD. Truman also attended graduate school at Bemidji State.
Truman and Sharon Brock were married February of 1970 in Bemidji, Minn.

She was born June 5, 1919, in Aitken, Minn., the daughter of Esther and William Slowe.
She was raised in Ranier, Minn., married Erick J. Gjesdahl of International Falls, Minn, and moved to Green Bay in 1948 where she resided until her death.
Dorothy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she sewed for the “barrel,” the Green Bay Bird Club and Audubon Society, where she participated in the spring bird counts, and the Sons of Norway, where she relished her Scandinavian heritage.

Support group for partners of sex abuse survivors started

A new support group is intended to help partners of the survivors of childhood sexual abuse know they are not alone.
The support group, called “What About Me?”, meets 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays in the Sunrise Center Against Sexual Abuse, 203 Third St. The support group will be facilitated by Brad Kokesh. A small meal is provided before 6 p.m. to allow people attending to get to know each other.



County to hear water quality report Tuesday

The Koochiching County Board is scheduled to review the results of a water quality study of Rainy Lake when it meets in committee at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the courthouse boardroom.
The regular county board meeting is scheduled to begin at 10:55 a.m.
Completed by St. Cloud State University, the study compared the water quality in regions with and without sewer collection systems.
