Bronco girls compete in Virginia Invite

The Broncos girls’ track and field team was in Virginia on Tuesday for a seven team meet.
The Broncos took second place behind host-school Virginia, but head coach Jen Erickson was happy with her team’s performance.
“The girls had a good day considering the weather conditions they had to work around this past week,” Erickson said.
The recent snow fall has kept the team inside and unable to practice on the track.
The Virginia track does not have a pole vault pit which kept the Broncos from picking up points in one of the teams’ stronger events.

The Broncos had several first place finishes led by Eric Solo who won the shot put and the discus.
“Overall the team did well,” Solo said. “First place is awesome and it is nice to be back on track, no pun intended. I didn’t get to see many races, but listening to the results over the loud speaker was impressive.”
Raphy Gelo won the long jump and was on the 4X200 and 4X400 meter relay teams that took first place.

Concerned about development

To the editor,
Having read in Thursday, April 24, Daily Journal, that the county board unanimously approved rezoning 80 acres from agri-forestry to recreational-residential for applicant Bruce LaVigne.
The applicant is considering creating a subdivision. The county board calls LaVigne a “model for development” in the area. Is the board going to monitor what that person has in mind.?
I called my county commissioner, Kevin Adee, to voice my concern but didn’t receive a return call.
How I miss a reporter like Ted Hall, who kept the public really informed about county board meetings.
