A bridge to peace, By FAYE WHITBECK, Staff Writer

Muslim peacemaker to speak in International Falls

Sami Rasouli’s impassioned defense of peace arises not only from the war’s devastations, but also from his own inner conflict — the result of watching the two countries that he loves at war.
If a spokesperson for peace could be custom designed, it would be tough to create one who is more fluent on the culture and currency of the Iraq war, or one more believable, than Rasouli.

Wrestling club a win

To the editor,
The Mighty Mustangs Wrestling Club is hands down the best.
I would like to state my sincerest thanks to the organizers of the Mighty Mustangs Wrestling Club.
This extremely hard-working and caring group of coaches (and their families) deserve a huge round of applause. They gave freely of their time (2 days a week) to teach a group of almost 70 young boys (grades kindergarten to grade 4) the basics of wrestling. They never turned one kid away.

Open season on safety

Last week marked National Window Safety Week. The point of the week was tragically driven home when two Twin Cities toddlers fell from their home windows that week.
One of the toddlers died and the other was seriously hurt after falling out of windows. Earlier in April, three other youngsters fell from windows: a 9-year-old girl and two sibling toddlers fell from a third-floor window. None suffered life-threatening injuries.
With warm weather comes the opening of windows. But parents should first check their homes for window safety.
