What Are We Going To Do Now

I was thinking about all those blogs we entertained last fall about the high cost of heat and the cost of rent "last winter" when prices were "so cheap". Several individuals on this site were concerned about the city and county helping low income folks out with some of these costs. Has anybody even begun to imagine what the cost of heating homes in Northern Minnesota is going to be like next winter? Can you imagine a heating bill of $15.00 to $18.00 per day to heat your house with "cheap" natural gas, "cheap" propane or "cheap" fuel oil? Well whats the decision going to be today?

Koochiching County commissioners expressed skepticism about the initiative Tuesday after Kathleen Przybylski, management assistant/administrative officer with Voyageurs National Park, explained the objectives of the partnership.
Commissioners were also concerned that the public is not aware of the partnership, which has existed for the past year.

Couple donates RV to PETA, By TOM LAVENTURE, Staff Writer

International Falls became a rendezvous point for an unusual donation Friday, when area residents Joe Guastafeste and Brontë Jornod donated a recreational vehicle to the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
PETA staffers drove to the Falls to meet Guastafeste and Jornod, who divide their time between Chicago and Borderland. They purchased the Forest River Sunseeker Class C motorhome to transport their five dogs and seven cats to Bordeland. Because Jornod found the Sunseeker difficult to drive, they decided it would be a good donation to PETA.
