Delores Joanne Kittelson, 75

Delores Joanne Kittelson, of International Falls, Minn., passed away at her home in the Falls on Monday, July 28, 2008. She was 75 years of age.
Born to Harry and Esther (McDougall) Rolfe on June 22, 1933, in Red Lake, Minn., she moved to International Falls in 1941.
She graduated from Falls High School, Class of 1951.
Delores was united in marriage to Howard T. Kittelson in 1953.


Minnesota reports first West Nile cases of 2008

ST. PAUL (AP) — Minnesota has recorded its first human West Nile cases of 2008.
The state Health Department says the cases involve a man in his 60s in Clay County, and two people under the age of 20 in Becker and Carver counties.
All three experienced onset of symptoms in early to mid July. They were later diagnosed with West Nile fever, a milder form of the illness, and are now recovering.

Falls High grad competes in ironman races, By JOE KRAUSE, Sports Editor

For most people, the world of ironman racing is something that they watch on TV on a Saturday afternoon in the summer.
The closest most people get to an ironman race is images of well-conditioned athletes with wax pencil numbers on their arms transitioning from a swim to a bike on a beach in Hawaii.
For former International Falls resident Tiffany (Gerlach) Lindstrom, nothing could be farther from the truth. Lindstrom is a 1990 graduate of Falls High School now living with her family in the Twin Cities.


A tribute to the arts at Backus, By FAYE WHITBECK, Staff Writer

At least $5,500 was raised for Backus Auditorium improvements at Friday night’s “Summer on the Border.”
Once again, the community gathered to support the continuous upgrading of the historic landmark.
The variety show was presented by local actors and musicians. It was directed, for one last time, by Beckie Aitken.


Ettestad, Untiedt

Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Ettestad, Eden Prairie, are happy to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Amy Rebecca, to Jay Charles Untiedt, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Untiedt, Spirit Lake, Iowa.

Amy is a graduate of Luther College and works as an analyst for Jeffrey Slocum and Associates, Minneapolis.

Jay is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and is a global equities research associate for Jeffrey Slocum and Associates.
