Littlefork City Council assesses wind damage, By FAYE WHITBECK, Staff Writer

Littlefork City Council assessed at its Thursday meeting the wind damage from the July 11 storm that ripped through the town.
The worst destruction was the uprooting and breaking of some of the city’s oldest trees, reported Mike Fairchild, city administrator. Insurance will cover the removal of what remains of several trees, he added.
“Some of those trees were 70 to 150 years old,” said Fairchild. But the downing of others helped open up camp grounds in the area. “We start fresh there, and see how we can improve it,” he noted.

Waltz of the manhole covers

To the editor,
A few days ago, I was driving the Keenan Drive, cross-town expressway, from Super Valu, out at the mall, towards McDonalds in South Falls. I was fifth in a string of six cars. We had just made the stop on 11th and we were now heading down 17th street towards McD’s.

Why do, don’t they print it?

Getting your name in the paper can be a joyous occasion. Just ask any youngster who has been featured in The Journal holding a fish or scoring a point in a game.
But having your name printed in the local newspaper under the “District Court” listing isn’t usually a high point for most people.
Some people may wonder why The Journal prints some court or law enforcement items, but not others.
We choose to print information that we believe can inform readers about safety issues or criminal activities that could impact their lives.
