Community invited to Falls school district meeting

The community has been invited to a meeting with the Falls school district to give input on ways to improve the district’s emergency response plan.

The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Falls High School cafeteria.

The meeting is being conducted in response to two threats called into the school last week that resulted in the evacuation of the schools Wednesday and cancellation of classes Thursday.


Parents, other schools, react

Rumors, opinions and concerns about the threats on Falls schools this week are on the minds and in the conversation of area residents.

The situation has been the topic of constant conversation at the Coffee Landing in downtown International Falls, according to owner Sheila Johnson.

Police investigate leads

International Falls police continue to investigate two threats of violence made to the Falls school district this week.

Police have several leads on the identity of the caller who left two voice mails threatening violence, according to International Falls Police Chief Chris Raboin. Raboin would not give any further details because of the pending investigation.

Police do not have a motive in the case, Raboin said.

School to be conducted Friday in Falls district

International Falls school wil be conducted Friday, according to a news release from Falls school district officials.

A bomb threat received Thursday has been determined to be a threat only.

High school students should enter the high school only through the main entrance. Elementary students should enter using only regular entrances.


Second threat closes school on Thursday

Classes at International Falls schools have been canceled for Thursday after a second threat was called in declaring a bomb would be on campus at 11 a.m., according to school officials.

Evidence concludes that the caller was the same person who called in a threat of violence left on an International Falls school district message center Tuesday night, which resulted in students being sent home Wednesday morning.

The school district completed a campus sweep later Wednesday and found no exploding device, according to a news release issued late Wednesday.
