The FDIC has warned that well over 100 banks, and possibly over 200 banks, will fail in the coming year. Considering that the failure of just IndyMac bank depleted the FDIC's reserves 10-20%, the average investor should watch the financial pages with great concern for his or her own economic sustainability and fiscal well being.

1.)  Powerful and Continuing Nationalism: Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

Has anyone read it? I came across it years ago in a small bookstore in Maine. At the time I read it, my life was vacillating between the solitary life and the life of the road. Coming across a novel exploring the elucidation, pleasures and failures of the contemplative life v. the experiential life was amazing timing; one of those rare moments that seemed directed.

The steps taken by the government after 9/11 to brainwash the citizenry were right out of the cult and military playbook. (If you remember, the steps were right-on: there was the initial attack [shock, removal of normalcy], followed by the insistence by govt. that it will happen again [exhaustion, fear, duct tape and plastic sheeting, etc], then the focus on a single catch phrase ["support our troops"], ending with absolute trust in the DoD and the completion of the process.) It was a masterful, skillful, hugely effective campaign on the hearts and minds of our people.

Why is it that it's so easy to criticize, flame, and hate each other online, and then turn around and apologize, wish people a Happy New Year, and sympathize with them?

I would like to explore the options I have at my disposal for moving into the circles of the ruling elite.

Why is it that even here, far from the hyper-religiosity of the Fundamentalist state I grew up in, people still tell me, out of the blue, that Jesus loves me?
