The Infinite Branching of Different Tangents . . . Thread
March 3, 2008 - 12:44pm — Mongo
DJ Blog Rule Number One: Thou Shalt Not Drift From The Subject. Keeping forever mindful of our duty to observe this rule, the subject of this Forum Topic stems from the psychiatric exercise: Stream-of-Conscious. “Stream of conscious” is the larger version of the psychiatric parlor game where-by a single word is thrown out in a group therapy session. This word stimulates another word in someone else, who then calls out their word. This bounces around the room revealing to themselves and others how our minds work. You know how it goes: “Dairy” begat’s “Farm” which begat’s “Hand” which begat’s “Finger” which begat’s “Ring” which begat’s “Job" . . . etc. and so on forever. This thread is all about playing: Stream of Consciousness. All you have to do to play is answer the last “reply.” Okay? Begin! (I’ll kick it off) Hmmm, reminds me of "The Crypt-Kicker Five" which reminds me of . . . I was working in the lab late one night He did the mash From my laboratory in the castle east (repeat refrain) The zombies were having fun (repeat refrain) The scene was rockin', all were digging the sounds (repeat refrain) Out from his coffin, Drac's voice did ring (repeat refrain) Now everything's cool, Drac's a part of the band

Kay how dare you ruin a fun...
Back to page topKay how dare you ruin a fun game calling everyone joe spoon, way to stray off topic of a great game. Mongo was posting lyrics from the song The monster mash and that song Reminds me of the 80's when i first heard it as a wee lad so that is my answer to Mongos game is.
The 80's.
When Freedom is Outlawed, Only Outlaws will be free.
I knew Joe Spoon -- as well...
Back to page topI knew Joe Spoon -- as well as anyone here is known at all hiding away in their little avatars -- and Mongo is no Joe Spoon, to quote Lloyd Bentsen's famous comment directed at the previously worst Vice President this country has ever had, Dan Quayle. Now as I understand or Mongo, the whole point of this thing is to let your stream of consciousness create the evolving subject of this particular blog. Kind of what James Joyce did in Ulysses and overdid in Finnegan's Wake, a piece of literature owned by many, read by none. Stream of consciousness is just whatever comes to mind so that when kay reads mongo and imagines Joe spoon she is tapping into her real although defective stream. My problem with the whole concept is that it kind of lacks focus, just like this piece. But I have set the stage for the human non sequitur from the CSA to come in and blow this whole thing up.
TJ, were you like at the top...
Back to page topTJ, were you like at the top of your class?(65). You are inductivly(sp) deductive. You should move back, if you are out of country, and run for president. You are smart, not afraid to mix it up,you know when to fold em and I would hope you would know when to push the button. No, Mongo is not JS, just another nut like the rest of us.

TLJ for President?? Let me think about this..... Hmmmm, "Johnson/Mongo 2012", or "Johnson/Jackpine 2016" or "Johnson/Minnow Man 2020"! How bizare indeed!! But, what party would they run under?? If he doesn't own a gun, would be know when to push the button??

Back to page topWell Jack, my lawyer tells me to never let the prying eyes of the whole world including International Falls, it's clergy and law enforcement folks and Homeland Security . . . never state publically if YOU ARE REALLY ARMED. I mean keep them guessing kid. Never show your cards. Never say on a public blog that you have a gun in your vehicle at all times and that you have only had to pull it out on someone twice. Why tell the world that? It instantly puts you in the "inferior" position legally, with nothing to gain by saying it and EVERYTHING TO LOSE by saying it.

Back to page topI'm not roj2000. I (and any well-written writer, including you) know his "quotations" are needless and ineffective "emphasis." He's a troll, exactly like me but--unlike me--totally unoriginal. And (like most bulimic FOX-watchers) he tends to back down when read the riot act by a capable rhetorician. I don't know why he would have said he carries a loaded gun in the car. Maybe he's another Joe Horn wannabe (Horn was a guy in Texas looking for a reason to kill people, and he killed two over the property of a neighbor he didn't know. google him.).
We all have guns, but few of us at the end of 53 actually itch for a chance to use them at the slightest infraction. That dude watches too much tv . . . much like the Gen-Xers he railed against so recently. I'm sure he dreams of dramatic, daytime heroism, since that is his holy grail in the America he watches on tv and the big screen. He IS commentary, Mongo. End of story.
I know his ilk, and their time spent in the quietude of the Texas prairie or entertaining biased reflection within a SC forest conjures daydreams that pass easily into their everyday when entertaining the meditation, prayer and mindful thoughtlessness while flipping burgers at work.

Jack, I long for harmony, empathy and diversity. I'm an old white hippy with old fashioned ideas. I love peace, hate violence and am trying to improve myself not judge others. I mean, what better way to avoid self examination, than to point fingers away from myself?
Hey I just want to get along with folks and hangout.

Back to page topJackpine04,
I keep coming across this comment, and finally decided to make a small comment of my own. First you were servo, then Joespoon04, now Jackpine04. The Journal staff is so slow, they haven't made a link yet, unbelievable!! Let's see, you don't like my quotations, someone elses GOD, so on and so forth! But, you are right in the sense that my God is Fox News, but you are wrong in that I back down from any capable rhetorican, such as TLJ. He makes sense 99.9% of the time, and some of you are the other .01%. I tend to listen to TLJ's advice and buy my gas where it is not polluted. At least in my comments I "try" to be fair and balanced, and not one sided as you and your numerous alter ego's tend to be. But you are entertainment, and as such give us something to be somewhat amused by. Keep up the good work.

This country hasn't...
Back to page topThis country hasn't seriously considered a moderate for president since Ike or HST. So, I'll have to request that Governor Notax name me "blogger laureate of Minnesota." It doesn't mean that I am the best or the most creative or anything, for that matter. That's the beauty of it.
Our new poet laureate in Minnesota is Robert Bly, a prince of a guy, who has actually known most of the greatest poets Minnesota ever produced or borrowed including James Wright, John Berryman, Michael Dennis Brown just as I have associated with some of the greatest DJ bloggers Minnesota has ever produced.
TLJ, I beg your pardon, but...
Back to page topTLJ,
I beg your pardon, but many of my responses, had relevance to the previous posting, but then again, quite a few didn't. But, thanks for the "Yankee" invitation to mix it up!! It is amazing sometimes, how you get on a roll and right at the end of it, you make a "pawky" statement, and throw it all on me!! I had to read your last entry about ten times, to figure out where you were headed with your support of those "dervish" fella's "Joe Spoon and Mongo"!! As for hiding out in their little Avatars, you are correct, however some of us have "Avatars" with our identities easily found by going to our "user profiles", and then there are Kings and "former Presidents" who for some reason chose to use the name given them at birth (I think)!! I also think, Kay is on to something, however, sqewed her thought process may be.
Thank you roj2000....
Back to page topThank you roj2000. Joespoon04 hid behind his avatar. If I'm joespoon, why is it that by clicking correctly on this website I am the only one who tells you who I am, my website, what I look like, what restraunt is my favorite, where I like to hang out and where you can reach me?
There's one other brave soul out there, he provides a photo only. I have nothing to hide. None what so ever. How about the rest of you? I'm out in the open. In the clear light of day. Let's be honest here, okay? Before anybody points at me, judges me, or clusters me in some "ilk" box configuring me, go back to your own personal page and re-edit. Fill in the blanks that I did at the very beginning when I opened this account. Let us all know WHO YOU ARE. I have hung my identity "out there." It's a small town and I know that folks here and there will recognize me. That's GREAT! I stand behind everything I say, so I HAVE NO FEAR.
I Love you all, I just had to get that off of my chest.
Brave you are Mongo for...
Back to page topBrave you are Mongo for posting a picture but there are not very many of us stupid enough to our real names and even fewer of us sending fellow bloggers to a youtube of us jumproping. Sometimes I have the great fear that I am responding to a relative hiding behind an avatar [as I have plenty in International Falls]. And that seems like the violation of some taboo although I am not convinced there are any taboos here except the big three of the DJ, one of which has been rendered defunct by this ingenious invention of the wise old hippie. And he has not only managed to get us all involved but he also seems to have the power to resurrect the dead, many of them trolls and wiseguys. And I'm not sure that is going to be a good thing in the long run. But in the long run very little is.
Hi Thomas, You have given me...
Back to page topHi Thomas, You have given me a different angle through which to view my (fax) bravery, and I thank you for it.
I have not walked a mile in your moccasins nor have I tread in any other longtime resident’s shoes. From your reply, I see that it WAS NOT so brave of me to completely reveal my identity. I am a new comer. I have no relatives anywhere near here (suits them fine) and I’m used to 40 years of wide exposure on rather large platforms. It’s ridiculously easy for me (rather than you) to hang out my identity. I have nothing to lose, where-as a local has much to lose.
After empathetically considering the equation from the angle of a longtime Int'l Falls resident, I see that the water I’ve been walking on is now up around my armpits. Again, I thank you for enlarging my limited perspective. I’d rather swim with the rest of you guys, than come off as some ego driven personality who pontificates from an outside stump. In your shoes, I would never ever let my real identity be known, and I stand well corrected. For that matter, from your perspective I don't think I would much like this Mongo dude. I mean who in blazes does he think he is! You see? Sometimes when I look into a mirror, I see a jerk staring back in disbelief. "That's not Yoda, that looks like some old white dude still struggling with the darkside of "The Force."

Back to page topYou're a great voice on this blog;no apologies needed. At the end of the day, that's all we are, different voices, named or unnamed. Keep up the thoughtful work; I, for one, consider you a wise person. Not that that carries much weight.

Back to page topOK!!!!! Y'all can end the Woodstock lovefest anytime. I'm going to have some "shrimp and grits" and enjoy the warm weather!! Maybe I will re-register on here with a different name, but I would guess that you would still know that it was me (as you can with some others). God bless the Confederate States of America!!
Thought I would never get...
Back to page topThought I would never get the chance to do this and will use it here as this thread does not seem to be strongly going anywhere. During the era, that is the class of "65" era, everyone was placed in specific groups from 1 thru 13. We used to put "name tags" on everyone based upon which group they fell in. The poor folks in groups 6-13 were of course able to tie their shoes with an instruction book and with great difficulty, The folks in groups 4-6 either were under-achievers, aspired to be in a higher group or thought they might be better then they actually were. Of course the folks in groups 1-3 were all direct decendents of Einstein or Tesla. What a total and complete waste of effort all this was as the system had nothing what so ever to do with ability or intelligence at all. Still, to this day, many think of themselves as smarter or dumber then the guy in the "other" class room because of this system. The entire question is still being felt in certain minds today. One thing I know for sure is that Tom was smart enough to not try to cut his eye out with a butcher knife while butchering a deer. Also, Tom is smart enough to believe in "term limits" as he did not run for re-election after 40 years. I hope this grouping system we had back in our era is still not being used today in our schools as it did much more harm then the good it provided as the management tool usefullness it might have provided.
Anton65, Your "1965" class...
Back to page topAnton65,
Your "1965" class grouping "by the numbers" was the precursor to the current "Columbine" generation of gun toting students, who "copycat" each other and blow away a dozen or so of their fellow students and faculty!! So, to answer your, question, YES, they are using "the class of 65" peer grouping methods, with the difference being, that "your and TLJ's" class brought weapons to school for hunting "after class", whereas, the current "X-generation" uses them "during" class!!

Back to page toproj2000, Unfortunately, you may have given some local punk a copcat idea.
Your above reply to Anton was posted on March 3rd, 8:50 pm. The next day a terror threat was called in to an answering machine at the school. Coincedence?
Well, okay, I'm not blaming you. What another does isn't our fault. However, violent screenwriters share some responsibility for what they write. (also) Murder Mystery authors who figure out ingenius ways their characters kill people. I mean, real killers try these ideas out! Which (by-the-way) is the reason I've never written a murder mystery. I've always wanted to, but I realized that someone "out there" would probably give my fictional ideas a go.
Long live The Yankee States of America!

Back to page topOkay, Anton1965 was streaming about “pigeon holing.” This of course puts me to mind of all of the squabs I shot (“holed”) as a kid with my .22.
Yes, I’m a tad different than many folks. Would it not be boring if we were all alike? The idea with this forum topic is to give everybody the FREEDOM to write about anything that pleases them, without having their replies being pulled for “being off of the subject.” Get it?

Back to page topThank you lesleyk! You are so correct and right on. It came to my mind that by starting a thread that had no thread, "this thread" will eventually rise to the very top (and stay there) of "the all time most clicked on, replied to and read, that this newspaper has ever had (or) ever will have. Why? Because this unique thread is open and FREE from anybody being thrown off for being "off of the thread."
If the DJ pulls this thread, or knocks anybody off, (except for the other rules) they'll be violating one of their own rules!
I might seem like a "nut job" to some, but I'm an intelligent nut job with lots of legal experience. (I was once a para-legal)
I have set something up here that takes down one of the DJ editor rules and there's not anything they can do about it without them looking like hypocrites. Bad for business to look like a demi-god, yeah? Especially in the newspaper biz.

Back to page topMongo,
Thanks for "hopefully" allowing us some latitude to throw some thoughts around! However, it will still be up to the Journal Staff as to whether the entries are incongruous to the intent of your original entry to this blog. But, again, thanks for giving us tangents on which to make our entries.
