A military draft?

Filed under:

No votes yet

It seems that the U.S. is slipping closer and closer to war with Iran.
President Bush was questioned about the possibility today in a press conference. He certainly didn’t rule anything out.
The cover story of this week’s NEWSWEEK is titled “Rumors of War.” The article compares the current U.S./Iran situation with how other past wars began — they often start from an otherwise minor flashpoint, like the Gulf of Tonkin events led to the Vietnam war.
Where would troops for such a war come from? What do you think about a military draft? Even with most of the U.S. public against the war in Iraq, is it possible to go to war with Iran soon? What do you think about that? What would be the consequences of such a war?

The bottom line is this....

The bottom line is this. Just as in Iraq, we tried to let the United Nations work it out with sanctions, but Saddam just thumbed his nose at the UN, the U.S., and the world. We should do the same here in Iran. Let the U.N. try to work it out diplomatically for a while longer, then Bush should try to get some allies together, and go in and use nuclear tipped bombs to melt the Nuclear facilities into the ground. It is well known that Iran is also supplying armor piercing bombs to the insurgents. That has got to stop. But anyone such as Iran, who says Isreal should be wiped off the map, needs to be dealt with quickly. The poor troops in Iraq, are having to fight a politically correct war, just like in Vietnam. Just let them go in and kick butt, and take no hostages. If you look like you are going to kill someone or bomb them, just wipe them out and keep going. Clean these bad cities out and get on with the peace process. Remember, if it quacks like a duck, and looks like a duck (insurgent), take it out. If a guy goes running around with a diaper on his head, with a fan belt wrapped around it, carrying a gun and a mask over his face (coward), then send him on to take the "eternal celestial dirt nap" (dead as a door nail). We can't let the tail wag the dog!!

Wow roj2000... do you have a mullet? Whether you have a "diaper" on your head or sound like a rediculous redneck, a radical is a radical... people need to calm down from both ends.

I'm seriously excited to have old Bushy's rein over once and for all. He doesn't have the intellect to be the president. Typically I'm a middle of the road type of girl politically - I have a place on both sides of the fence - but DANG, at this point I'd take a dead tree stump over who we currently have in office.

Do you honestly think firing up nukes is going to solve ANYTHING? I am a far cry from a hippy here - so don't get on me with your liberal crap, but seriously think about the potential consequences if we start melting countries away. It's highly doubtful the word will like us any more with a effed up move like that!

Hey, Jess...I'm with you on "a radical is a radical" --- people on both ends need to relax their views a little bit. I mean, even though you agree with most of what someone has to say, doesn't mean you have to agree with all of it!

If you start a campaign, I'll vote for Dead Tree Stump. Let me know when he's going to make his announcement that he's running for president. Wouldn't want it to coincide with Arbor Day or people might start comparing him to a live tree and that would just be a tragedy.
