Bridge collapse
August 2, 2007 - 10:10am — Laurel Beager
The collapse of the eight-lane Interstate 35W bridge in Minneapolis Wednesday touches most Minnesotans in some manner. Many of us travel across the bridge regularly, have lived in the Twin Cities or have family who live there. Some area residents or former residents were in the vicinity of the bridge when it collapsed. The Journal’s Friday edition will feature some of those stories. The Daily Journal is looking for photographs of the bridge and stories about the collapse from Borderland area residents to help tell this story. Please email your stories and photos to laurel1@dailyjournal-ifalls.com

Back to page topI just wanted to say that my thoughts and prayers are with everyone's loved ones! It's a terrible thing that has happened to Minneapolis! While watching all the news reports yesterday evening on television it was disturbing and unreal to watch. The footage they were showing me reminded me of watching a movie. One of those Die Hard movies where they have a lot of distruction that takes place throughout the film. But this WASN'T a movie I was watching. It was REAL and unsettling to watch. I often found at times not quite believing that this took part in MINNESOTA. We see so many disasters and school shootings etc. happening over the United States that when something this close to home happens (not to mention the state we live in), it's quite hard to believe and take in. A big THANK YOU out to all the Minnesotians that have come forth to help and rescue and do all that they can do in this terrible tragedy. I know in the state of Minnesota today and throughout the country Minneapolis is in everyone's thoughts and prayers!!!
