Wagner Construction/Sewer Project

I'm curious to hear of any experiences or opinions in dealing with Wagner Construction (and employees) throughout the sewer system extension project. How do homeowners feel it is going?

All of the people we have...

All of the people we have spoken with have been very friendly... BUT... the manager we spoke with told us our yard would be sodded and our driveway fixed by the end of July. Here it is, September already, and they just marked our driveway last week (no sod in sight). I understand that delays happen, but over a month is a bit excessive. It would have been nice to have the grass back in time for it to get established before cold weather. We're going to be selling this spring and unless the grass survives (if they get it done) I'm going to have a serious lack of curb appeal going on... not to mention a lot of time, work, and money to fix it myself.

The staff has been friendly, but the supervision could be better. There was little communication as to when they would commence. I was ready to reseal the blacktop driveway the day they arrived. They throw their lunch garbage into the grinder/drill holes, and what they promise has yet to be completed regarding follow ups. As for sod, I doubt it. It has been difficult to grow grass seedlings in the sandy dirt they redeposited. I am still waiting for the repairs needed on the blacktop driveway. I ve had sewer since June 4th, but late Friday the grinder pump went out and Wagner has no answering machine or voice mail. East Kooch. Sanit. is out until Sept. 4th. There is no emergency contact.

Where should I...

Where should I begin?
Communications: We were promised consultation as to where controls were located, requested placement on side of cabin, agreed we would pay extra. Construction was supposed to occur this spring but they began after we left last fall without any communication. Pump, controls and all placed in a slightly different area than described. Controls definetly not on side of cabin. After discussing with construction inspector I am courious as to who he works for. County or contractor.
Easement: Major violations of construction easements, crossed property, damaged and have not cleaned up. This silted up a rock garden established years ago and has not been remediated. Moving equipment created a gully on the downhill side of grinder pump in another violation of the construction easement which allowed the silt they used for fill to wash into lake (of course they did not install silt fences).
Construction: Installed grinder pump in an area which allowed the lake side to wash away. Did not seal cover until we complained, silt could have washed in possibliy causing premature failure of the grinder pump. (if your cover is not bolted down, contact someone - County, EKSSD - or ? in writing because EK may want to charge you for the pump when it fails)- Note to Thompson. If the impeller blades are ruined, make sure EK knows about it.
Remediation: Very poor, we had grass on a slight amount of black dirt. Had sodded years ago. The fine sand they used for fill is not the same. Rocks all over the place that were never there before. After seeding and failing, they finally placed an "erosion mat" on the hill. Inspector had suggested rip rap would be looked at on the downhill side, didn't happen. I'll never be able to mow as it is humped and folded up and the netting will tie itself around the mower blades.
My list could go on. I believe this project has the possibility of haunting us for years. My advice is to document any problems you have; photos, letters to County, EK or whoever, dates of conversations, it may come in very useful in the future.

Its kinda like dealing with the natural gas company. Round and round we go with no success. You feel like there is no one who will help you and nothing you can do.

This discussion is being discontinued as it is not productive.

We encourage people who have questions or concerns about a private business to contact that business directly.
