Ever seen a UFO?

Average: 1 (1 vote)

It seems UFO’s are reported more frequently these days. I believe the “snicker factor” has been falling at the same pace reports rise. The fear of people making sport of a citizen making such claims is less inhibiting. Five decades ago, when I was a youngster of eleven, (1958) my brother and I saw one. It was early summer at about ten in the morning. A beautiful, warm day in Amery, Wisconsin. Together, Jim and I stepped out of our house with a can of worms and our cane poles. Sitting on the bank of the Apple River, (behind the Stella Cheese factory) our focus shifted from bobbing bobbers to a HUGE cigar shaped object cruising soundlessly across the river no higher than the water tower. Soundlessly it floated towards us and then directly over our heads. I could have hit it with the slingshot dangling from my rear pocket! Brilliant red, blue and yellow lights revolved around it’s football field long side. No external engines or propellers were apparent. This was no blimp! The lights alone were beyond the technology of the times. My brother and I dropped our poles and raced around the corner of the factory to keep it in sight as it slowly zig-zagged over town. Quite as a mouse, it just floated towards North Twin Lake until out of sight.

Today, at family gatherings, Jim and still talk about that “thing.” It stands out in our memories clear as yesterday.

Have you ever seen something that seemed “not of this world?”

I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe He is the "only" begotten Son of God the Father who loved us so much that he sent His Son to die for the redemption of my sins. I believe my eyes were created by my Father and that with those eyes, I have seen dinosaur bones at The New York Museum of Natural History. I do not say what I think they represent. I do not "believe" in Darwin, but I do not deny what I have seen on the backside of the retina of the eyes the Lord gave me at birth. I saw something unexplainable in the sky when I was only three years younger than you are now. In my blog, nowhere do I say what I "believe" this object to be. I only report the image my eyes beheld.

Jackpine you seem ready to fight at the drop of a hat. You do not contribute to anything written at this site. Apparently you believe that it is your job to jab, poke, rile and bait bloggers you do not care for. The staff at The Daily Journal stopped all action for a short period as a "cooling off" period. You have not "cooled off."
Please be advised that it is negative bloggers who contribute nothing positive that keeps 1400 International Falls residents from blogging at this site because they fear the kind of attacks that you so richly throw around. I predict (not believe) that you will be the first person to be banned by this newspaper.

Jack, try attracting people to your wit and wisdom rather than causing dissection. Destruction is so very much easier than construction. It takes a lot of planning and work and time to construct a building. It takes only a match to burn a house to the ground. One act requires creation. This mirrors what God the Father did when He Created. The reverse act of destruction requires no brains or considered thought. Evil, in fact, is stupid. Satan loves to destroy and tear folks down. Which path are you on?

Jack, you seem to be on this track that I am not a Christian. You attack my faith publically. You redicule me publically. If you bumped into me at the supermarket, I,m sure you would not dare do these things. You hide behing an avatar, in the shadows and in this cowardly fashion feel brave enough to attack folks. Do not do online anything that you would not do to a persons face. Satan likes to hide in shadows. He hates the light of day. Chistians do not hide in darkness. Who are you to judge me? You are the one who is negative. Look into your own heart first and do an inventory of your own Christian faith before you judge and poke at me. If you see a blog that you do not care for, just move on. It' easy to keep the peace on this newspaper's site. Let's be constructive rather than destructive. Let's make others in this community feel that it is safe for them to write blogs and make comments without instantly coming under anonymous attack.
Please learn to be either better mannered or find a website more suited to your needs. Since it is indeed true that "birds of a feather flock together," go to a site where the only thing going on is screaming and baiting . . . (or) modify your behavior and stay here. The choice is you’re my little brother.

Mongo, What beautiful words of wisdom! Myself I shall monitor the site for a few days to see if things change and if they don't I will just butt out. The journal absolutely did the correct thing by having a cooling off period, in my opinion. I hope and PRAY that we can have some constructive comment from the bloggers now. I know that there will be some criticizim again however hope that people will keep this constructive. I enjoyed your comment...

I have seen quit a few unexplained objects and lights in the sky growing up in northern Minnesota. My grandmother use to own a farm way out past little fork on some county rd don't remember what one, anyway we had gone over to one of the neighbors that had moved in during the BE&K days on a nearby property. They had to show us this crazy place they found in the woods. My father and Mother went back and there was a huge area covered in this black oily substance on the ground. There was no life in this area where it appeared something had landed that left the oily gunk. It was complete silence in the area. They gathered up some of the stuff and sent it off to be tested and never heard back. This area now is under water but things still do not live there. I had also seen a pretty amazing light show out by Indus one night when i was staying with my dad, must have been 94. There was 3 glowing lights in the sky that looked like they where dancing i watched them for a few minutes then they formed a triangle and in the middle of the three lights a red flickering light appeared and headed towards the ground, The whole forest lit up with a hazy reddish orange glow and then the 3 lights in the sky left and the glow in the forest faded away.

Thank you Outlaw! Thanks for stepping up to the plate. I bet a lot of folks reading our two accounts want to add to it but fear to say anything about the subject. Nay, (I say) they have “nothing to fear but fear itself.” I know that we are not loonies, and I know we are not the only two who have seen lights dancing in the sky versus sugar plums in our heads.

Back to page top

While living west of Littlefork in the summer of 1997 or 98 I witnessed what I believe to be a meteorite.
It was THE most amazing thing to see.
I was talking on the phone, looked out the window to see something that appeared to be a gray, house-sized rock tumbling through the sky over the horizon. I could see flames at its nose and crumbling pieces falling off.
When I shouted into the phone, the folks I was talking to were so alarmed they almost jumped in the car to check on me.
I called as many places and I could think of, U of M in Duluth and the National Weather Service, but they had no reports or seismic activity.
Anybody else see this? Or hear about this?

OK Laurel,

The size of a house?? I think if something that size hit the USA, it would have sent the dinosaurs (Democrats) back into extinction. Hmmm, not a bad idea!!!! By the way, you were'nt at a "Sorority" party at the time, were you?? Just kidding....... I actually saw something similar Saturday night, but then I called the Defense Dept and they said it was Hillary crashing and burning. Good enough explanation for me!!

Back to page top

What the heck, some people think I'm nuts anyway. In the late fall of 1966, my dad and I were coming back from Virginia about 11 at night and all of a sudden our car started to shake. The night was cold and clear and off to our left, right at the bridge by Boyum's farm, we saw a large, orange object that was going west very quickly. It started to rise, yes rise, and we could hear more noise, and because it was clear, we could see two F105(I think) delta winged interceptors chasing this thing. If you ever saw Close Encounters, the scene when the cop cars stop and the objects rise and disappear into the night sky, well that is what it was like. The next day there was a report of an object that was pursued by air force jets and was lost at the MN/ND border. We told a few people about it, my dad was a bit elusive about it, and a week later some airforce guys came and took our information.(Project Blue Book). Again, I remember my dad not talking about it much to people but the week he died, he asked me about it and we talked in depth about it, I think it was something that he did not like to think about. This is a true story, what was it, who knows, but I know that F105's could go 1800 MPH(afterburners) and this thing left them in their tracks and went up and slightly south, not down. Believe it or not, but I do, because I was there. That is all I have to say about that.

They were at stand down then, most of em were still in high school or thinking about going to Nam. I have never seen a delta winged champ or cub, but enough duct tape and anything can happen. The interceptors were F-106 Delta Darts. The F-105 was a Thud/ Fighter-Bomber that was used in Viet Nam. I know most of you don't care but I could not sleep last night because I knew I screwed up on the aircraft, Roj may be right though, Benny or Vic or Wade or Kim or Tim could have been up that night and toyed with the old DM 54.

Yea, you too, stay warm that is. You have me wondering about you being born at that time of year, and the mystics said," look in the southern sky and behold, a light shall appear and two jets shall follow and a child will be born unto a canadian ,and he shall be known as the UPD". This is probably funny only to you and me, but that is their loss.Send me my dues! See ya soon.

I can't say that I believe in the existance of ET's,
however...UFO sightings absolutely occure.

On the other hand...I can't rule out the existance of ETs either.

I do believe that it would be highly obtuse of us to believe that we " Earthlings" are the only life forms in Space's entirety. Some argue that we are alone because we are made in God's image. Who is to say that " they" are not made in God's image as well? Have you ever seen God? I would ponder that as humans we all have a different appearance. Who's to judge whether or not Mr. or Ms. Alien Life form is not of God's image as well.

Just a thought or two on a Sunday morning.

Back to page top

A 600-page guide may lend credibility to UFO believers. The Fire Officer's Guide To Disaster Control can apparently be found in firehouses across the United States. Chapter 13 of the book has an unusual twist. Titled "Enemy Attack And UFO Potential", it outlines what could happen in the event of a UFO crash. The authors of the book, retired firefighters William M. Kramer and Charles W. Bahme write in part: It would be remiss to not give some part to the role fire departments might play in the event of the unexpected arrival of UFO's in their communities...In a less optimistic scenario, you may have engine trouble upon approaching the scene, and radio contact could be lost with your dispatcher. If at night, your headlights could go out, the city could be blacked out, and your portable generators may malfunction when you attempt to use them for fans and portable lights.
"It just shows you that serious professional people are starting to take his whole subject of UFO's seriously," said Jim Mann, director of the Maricopa County chapter of The Mutual UFO Network. "I don't think we're crack-pots, we're just people who want to be aware of what's going on, even if the reports turn out to be false," Mann said.

Mongo, No I can't recall seeing any UFO's, but I have had other exeriences that I would classify as quite unusual. When I was ten I was struck by an automobile and suffered a skull fracture. I spent three days in a coma, and believe I had an out of body experience. I can't really describe what I experienced other than to say it makes our current reality dull by comparison.
