Back to page topSo, have you applied for a job at the Journal?
And keep in mind, with the "wave of the future" Internet where anything goes, proper grammar, punctuation & standards have been thrown out the window. Just read some of the comments on this site.

Back to page topThank you for your kind replies. Anton1965 said it best, the eloquence is breathtaking. I meant to say that almost anybody could do better, and I see by the replies that you can as well.

Back to page topNorpole,
If you don't mind me asking, what exactly is your profession?
You sound very intelligent, which means you have probably read at least a few textbooks. Perhaps you should berate them for their plethora of typographical errors.
Instead of whining about typos, maybe you could get out of your chair, away from your computer, and tutor!
Norpole, Do you have any...
Back to page topNorpole,
Do you have any idea exactly what it takes to put out a paper in International Falls? The Daily Journal works with a skeleton crew to put out 10 - 15 pages of paper that is worth reading. Personally I feel that we have something very special up here where we can still have a daily paper. The day of the daily is going fast and we still have The Daily Journal and that says a lot about the people of International Falls. If there are a few errors here and there, so be it. It takes a lot of hard work from the 6 or so reporters who take time out and are at county meetings, sporting events, and other happenings around the area till all hours of the night so you can read about in the morning. I applaud their efforts and I say keep up the good work.
Thank you Daily Journal...
Back to page topThank you Daily Journal Staff for all the hard work that you do. While I am sure there will be times when I do not agree with your position on any given topic, I too applaud your efforts to bring all in the area a wide variety of topics to read and become involved in if and when we should choose to become involved. I am most greatful for this web site, where all can voice their opinions on any subject without fear of retaliation from any in the local police force. Keep up the good work for all of us who do appreciate your efforts even if sometimes we are not as perfect as some in the area who are so much better than we are.

Back to page topKEEP IT UP NORPOLE!!! If I were the editor of the Journal, I would be absolutely embarrassed to put my name on it some days. Yes, we all occasionally misspell or mess up the grammar. But the "pros" should know better. And to accept such sloppiness is assinine. Perhaps our elementary teachers should have their classes proofread a few articles and send them in.
Reporters: Please remember the past tense of "lead" is "led," not "lead" as you so often use it. "Lead" when pronounced "led" is a heavy metal.
Wow livehere2, you criticize...
Back to page topWow livehere2, you criticize the spelling in the Daily Journal, when you cannot spell yourself. Asinine has only one s, not 2 like you seem to think it does. Before you attack the Journal staff, perhaps you should make sure that you are not making the same errors you are so quick to point out! I guess you make mistakes to.
To Freshface,...
Back to page topTo Freshface, On December 29 you wrote a paragraph to livehere2 concerning the spelling of asinine. I would like to point out to you the last line in your paragraph. You wrote "I guess you make mistakes to". The word to means toward. I know you meant to use the word too, to include livehere2. I guess you make mistakes also. This is also WRONG. Also is a conjunctive adverb. A conjunctive adverb connects clauses in addition to modifying a verb(or clause).
Deus vobiscum
Yup freshface, I admit to...
Back to page topYup freshface, I admit to errors, but I put 2 Os in too not 1 like you did. Also don't claim to be a professional writer, like newspaper reporters. We all make mistakes like I said in my first entry.
Hi folks! I am glad that...
Back to page topHi folks! I am glad that you took time from making fun of me to point out so well how noble it is to have a joke of a newspaper. Other than livehere2, who understood the meaning of my blog, apparently you accept mediocrity and sloppiness as good enough from the voice of the town and county. Why? Were you allowed to be so cavalier in your spelling in school? If so, then you were short-changed and I am sorry for you. Yes, it is an arduous challenge to put out a daily newspaper, but that does not excuse misspelled words, poor sentence structure and a lack of imagination in relaying the news, sports, and weather of our home town. Like a friend of mine says about some people these days, rocks plus jar equals YOU! You know who you are.
It is really amazing how...
Back to page topIt is really amazing how some big words can make a person sound smart and let them believe that they have the right to talk down to people. I do believe, first off that the website is ifallsdailyjournal.com, not lets******aboutInternationalFalls.com. Also let’s not forget that they are complaining about the vehicle that is paying for the website that they are posting their so-called Blogs on. That brings me to my next point, if people actually knew what a Blog was, they would know that Blog stands for web log, and is an account of your life or other things, not a place to lay out a one paragraph whine and allow others to comment, that is reserved for a forum, which happens to be one click away on the website. So, before you start to bash the journal about misspelled words and grammatical errors, perhaps you should look into proper etiquette on how to go about your bashing.
Enough already! I agree with...
Back to page topEnough already! I agree with the misspelling in the paper. My kids even notice them. I think....you know what? It doesn't really matter what I think. Let people state their opinion and leave it at that. OK?
When all the dust settles,...
Back to page topWhen all the dust settles, Buddy is right. We can complain about the spelling and if it doesn't meet our standards then we can buy another paper or send a gentle nudge of proactive criticism via the editor. Thanks for letting me air this subject. Let's move on folks to make our paper and city better.
I have an Idea for all of...
Back to page topI have an Idea for all of you. Instead of pointing out the fact that there are small errors in the newspaper. You should focus on the real problems in the town. Like the meth usage of our youth or underage drinking. I swear you people would complain if you were hung with new ropes.
Oh my freeking God people....
Back to page topOh my freeking God people. Is this high school or just a small town? Oh no, did I spell something wrong?
