It irritates me that we have supported a fish processing plant here in Ifalls. Having not seen through the smoke screen about "ONLY ROUGH FISH", and "NOT OUT OF RAINY LAKE" is dis-heartening. I know attracting business in the Falls is imperitive to the economic well being of us all, but many of us should feel ashamed to have played a part in hurting a resource for a minimal short-term gain in $10.00 an hour employment of a few. YIKES!! From an economy that is heavily supported by tourism it is a detrimental mistake to have some leaders support such a cause. Especially when the writing was clearly on the wall for ALL to see. Rough fish??? come on guys!! Terrrible!! Nets kill in mass!!! TRUST ME SOME OF THESE NETS ARE NOT TARGETING ROUGH FISH!! Yes rough fish will be PART of the equation, but you can bet Crappies and walleyes will be in the mix, and Pike might not read the sign "ONLY ROUGH FISH!!". Supporting the cause was and still is very irresponsible. Anyone want to go on the record anymore about only rough fish... I didn't think so!! Seems I just saw a sign the other day on 53 contradicting that. BIG MISTAKE!! Selling out a resource for 3 or 4 jobs?? RUKIDDING ME!! SAD!!
"Get Your Walleye's" Signs...
Back to page top"Get Your Walleye's"
Signs been up all week, on Hwy 53, "Fresh Walleye Today", so I figure they must have at least two of them for sale at that new fish processing place. Actually, you can set any gill net so that it will "ONLY" catch rough fish but of course if its not rough fish you want then its not rough fish you get. Not to many folks around here know what I just said as not to many folks around here have all that much gill netting expierence but you catch what you set for and "if" you don't know what your doing with the net then you are going to catch a lot of pike! Somebody must know what there doing as there are "Walleye" for sale today at the fish processing plant and Walleye bring a whole lot more money then sucker, burbot and tullibee.
