Your tax dollars at work in the Twin Cities
April 9, 2008 - 8:00am — Schmitty53
The following article written by katherine Kersten of the Star and Tribune Newspaper shocked me this morning. With school funding dropping how this could happen is nothing short of laziness by our own Minnesota Department of Education. http://www.startribune.com/local/17406054.html |

Unbelievable. This is an...
Back to page topUnbelievable. This is an unconscionable violation of the separation of church and state. Someone needs to get slammed in the court system and raked through the coals. This requires justice. Religions should not be endorsed in schools, and certainly not a religion that, if some kid tried to represent the Prophet visually in art class, would mandate a stoning or beheading. I, for one, am against cutting kids heads off in school . . . in more ways than one.
I knew the terrible day...
Back to page topI knew the terrible day would come when I agreed with Katherine Kersten and jackpine at the same time. Today seems to be that day. It does seem ironic that the Muslim right is doing with its public school almost exactly what our friends on the US Christian right would like to do with ours: bring orthodox belief right into the classrooms of state-financed institutions.
I wonder what they are teaching in their biology classes?
My, my,.... Who would have...
Back to page topMy, my,....
Who would have "thunk" that Minnesota would have had a "State" sponsored, terrorist training camp, disguised as a school?? You see, folks, "ONE STEP AT A TIME", they're taking over right under our eyes, under the guise of, "freedom of religion", etc. Who wants to bet, that soon they will have a new gym, dedicated to "Barak Hussien Obama"!!!! Never, in my craziest thoughts, would have thought that something like this would be happening in my "old" home state!! But, just when you thought Minnesota was ceasing to amaze you, they holler "SURPRISE"!!!! If heads don't roll over this issue, then I know Minnesota is sailing off into the sunset! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! Schmitty53, YOU, made my day. Thanks for the info! Oh, by the way TLJ, I thought the "Muslims" leaned to the left??
So you thought the Muslims...
Back to page topSo you thought the Muslims leaned to the left, did you? Was it their support of equal rights for women that made them seem like left wingers? Perhaps it was their incredible tolerance for diversity. Then again, it might have been their great love of good wine and fine poetry. Or their avid support of freedom of the press --or their hatred of conceal and carry laws. On top of everything, they are gay friendly and supporters of the arts and National Public Radio. How stupid of me not to recognize that they were left-leaning. Their tendency to dress in white robes and burn crosses must made me confuse them with another organization that leans slightly to the right. If I lived farther south, I would recognize those things immediately but the blue tint to my spectacles makes me virtually blind to most truths. That is why I am so thankful that you occasionally bring me back to reality.
TLJ, Sorry, if I make you...
Back to page topTLJ,
Sorry, if I make you so angry and upset! Surely, that is not my intent...... I did not know that about those Muslims!! Please don't tell me that they support "NAMBLA", too?? They do like to wear hoods over their heads, when they are cutting our American's heads off!! Or did all you "Muslim sympathizers" forget the pictures that CNN showed on the "telly"?? President McCain, PLEASE build a fence around Minnesota, please???? I'll sleep much better down south here, Y'ALL!!
Just your mentioning the two...
Back to page topJust your mentioning the two of them together was humorous. The intentions of the school and it's director Mr. Zaman seem so obvious and poorly disguised. His decision to not fly the American Flag on the school grounds was disgusting. "I DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO WORK THE FLAG POLE". When he said that I almost wished I was there to say "Here let me show you, bend over"!

Back to page topIt's times like these that Christians and patriots should at the minimum be intellectually grateful for the presence of atheists and atheists' stance on keeping religion out of schools. Unless atheists had hammered on the issue over the generations, there would be no precedent on which to base the judgment against this Islamic abomination of the school system. Thank God for atheists!
Don't want to stray to far...
Back to page topDon't want to stray to far with this Jack but, an atheist thanking God for anything is suspect at best. Or is that an acknowledgment ? Since God doesn't believe in atheists how can He be thanked for them? Anyway have a nice day Jack and make someone smile. I almost forgot Jack, TGIF!
Beware the mongrel hords,...
Back to page topBeware the mongrel hords, atheists and Nancy Pelosi. The end is near. Soon, Dec. 21st, 2012, (about tea time) Zardoz will reveal truth, justice and the Islamic way to infidels, used car salesmen and the former governor of New York.

The amount of ignorance...
Back to page topThe amount of ignorance spewed on this website never ceases to amaze me.
While I'm not happy my tax money is going toward this school, I'm not too concerned about it either. Not all Islamic/Muslim people are terrorists. I know, that's a crazy concept. They follow a structured school day that happens to include a few religious rituals as well. Who cares? 50 years ago, our public schools weren't that far off. I'm pretty sure Christianity made it's way into the classroom quit a bit. It's not like these students are gathering for a sacrifice to the gods. They're praying. Heaven forbid!
Our taxes go to a lot of things that upset me (i.e. people who abuse the welfare system, medicare for people who spent 50 years poisoning their bodies and expect me to pay for it), but this is of little concern to me.
Hate speech and fear mongering is all it is.
Trapper, the following was a...
Back to page topTrapper, the following was a requirement for public school teachers from the founding of the country until very recent in american history:
The teacher is to model christianity in her classroom, lead prayers, and teach from the Bible the moral codes found therein.
The reason this was required is often enough the townsfolk were responsible for the salary of the teacher. That was because this was believed to be the foundation of our society. Now if that doesn't qualify as public tax funded religious activity what is?
Teaching in this country was a tough job, very unlike the kind of teaching (or lack thereof) that occurs today. In most large urban areas teachers have all they can do just to survive a school day unharmed, let alone teach. Now with the regulations for teaching I often wonder if the job is worth the risks and troubles involved. I applaud any teacher of teenagers working in high poverty areas of our urban society, they are heros.

Back to page topFear Mongo-ing is my bread and butter. Seperation of church and state should not read "separation of church and state except religions that scare us."

Like I said, I'm not...
Back to page topLike I said, I'm not thrilled about my tax dollars funding a school like this. My comment was geared more toward the people who think a school with students praying to a god other than theirs = the downfall of civilization.
The downfall of civilization...
Back to page topThe downfall of civilization occurs when people are so stringent in following the beliefs they're taught that they legitimize insult, assault and murder on another side. Europe, I believe, is a good model describing what happens when a Western civilization allows a 1300 year-old desert doctrine and lifestyle to start pushing them back into the past.
Also, as a matter of simple public safety, we don't need Muslims screaming down highways and roads as fast as they can, attributing any subsequent wrecks to God's will. My grandparents lived in Iran and everyday would see muslims building fires under their cars to thaw gas lines, and if it blew up and killed people, everyone would say "inshallah". There is very little western pragmatism in that religion, and it kills people all the time.
Once again, I can't be more...
Back to page topOnce again, I can't be more specific about this... Muslim/Islam does not = terrorist.
And the public safety comment is just silly. I've lived in an area heavily populated with middle-eastern people, and if anything, they drive too safely/slowly.
I'm also willing to bet when given the choice, most people would rather walk through a crowd of Western Muslims/Islams than a crowd of American born-and-bred gang-bangers.

Back to page topI somewhat agree with your last statement, unless of course the Western Muslims/Islam crowd happens to be at an airport!
If humanity endeavors to...
Back to page topIf humanity endeavors to destroy all religion, perhaps we could have a world where reproduction isn't required by religious dogma, but balanced by biology and reason combined. I think 500,000,000 people and no religion is a good goal for the planet. Everyone is a terrorist in some form or fashion, I just happen to think Islam is dumber than Christianity, so I'd sterilize them first.
I hope the following will...
Back to page topI hope the following will shed some light on a much bigger picture than just this school. The school is just a baby step in a much larger plan. For me it's a little sad that some people are content with just reading the local news and don't want to bothered with what takes place past the population sign.
This is an excerpt taken from an article by By Steven M. Warshawsky titled
Will Islam Dominate the Future?
Islam also is a totalitarian political ideology, akin to communism, that is fundamentally inconsistent with Western understandings of individual freedom, sexual equality, material prosperity, and representative government, not to mention our Judeo—Christian heritage. Since 9/11, just five short years ago, the conflict between the West and Islam (especially in Europe) has become much more pronounced, and much more violent.
Granted, most Muslims are not terrorists. Nevertheless, it is clear that many Muslims, including some portion of those living in the West, sympathize with terrorists and support the global jihad. As Robert Spencer, Andrew Bostom, David Yerushalmi, and many others have explained, the jihadist impulse is found throughout Islamic theology, history, and culture.
Islam divides the world into the House of Islam (dar al—Islam), where Islamic law(sharia) reigns supreme, and the House of War (dar al—harb), where sharia does not yet prevail. Muslims are enjoined by Allah and Muhammad to wage war upon the House of War until it is brought within the House of Islam. This religious—political project — and not the P.C. troika of poverty, tyranny, and discrimination — is the root of jihad.
It should not be surprising, then, as Steyn emphasized in a recent column, that the vast majority of Muslims worldwide feel primary loyalty to their religion ('Pan—Islamism'), instead of to the particular nations in which they live. For example, according to a recent poll (cited by Steyn), only 8 percent of Muslims living in Great Britain consider themselves British first, whereas 81 percent consider themselves Muslim first. Given the stark differences between what it means to be British and what it means to be Muslim, these poll results portend a disastrous future for the British nation. Indeed, given the gulf that exists between Western culture and Islamic culture, the growing size and influence of the Muslim world portends a disastrous future for us all.
Steyn emphasizes that, with birth rates among native Europeans well below 'replacement level' (2.1 children per woman), the Western populations in these countries will shrink with each new generation. At the same time, millions of Muslims are moving into Europe (naively welcomed by the existing governments as a source of labor to maintain their lavish welfare states), and are having many more children than their neighbors. Steyn reports that Western women in Europe have an average of 1.4 children, whereas Muslim women have an average of 3.5 children. The result is a 'baby boom' among Muslims that, within our lifetimes, will completely change the European countries in which they live. Steyn's analysis (though not original) strikes me as right on the mark (no pun intended).
Yet after spending page after page highlighting the demographic disaster that awaits Europe (and to a much lesser extent the United States), Steyn fails to state the logical conclusion, which is that Muslim immigration must be stopped. Period.
If one believes, as Steyn clearly does (with strong support from the evidence), that Muslims as a group not only are not assimilating into Western culture but are actively hostile toward the very principles upon which our societies are built, then it is 'suicidal' (a term frequently used by Steyn) to permit millions of Muslims to take up residence within our countries.
Of course, such a blanket policy would be unfair towards the many individual Muslims who do not share the militant worldview of their co—religionists. Nevertheless, if 80 percent of Muslims cannot be trusted to act in the best interests of the Western nations in which they live (to use the British poll numbers cited above), then the only rational policy is to exclude Muslims altogether. However, nowhere in America Alone does Steyn dare utter this obvious, if uncomfortable, truth.
"only 8 percent of Muslims...
Back to page top"only 8 percent of Muslims living in Great Britain consider themselves British first, whereas 81 percent consider themselves Muslim first."
This stat is, in a word, irrelevant. Especially considering OUR OWN MILITARY operates under the mantra, "God, Country, & Family". God before country... just like 80% of the Muslims in this artcle.
So, if I were to move to Japan next week and a reporter asked me, "Do you consider yourself Japanese or Christian(just using Christian as an example)?", I'm pretty sure I'd say "Christian". Just like the Muslims said they were "Muslim". What a completely slanted stat used to try and make a point.
I rarely agree with...
Back to page topI rarely agree with Katherine Kersten. But I applaud her for making this story known to a lot of us who don't reside in the Twin Cities area. Our founding fathers wanted us to have freedom of religion but not at the expense of the country. They wanted us to have freedom of speech to assure that all sides were being heard in every debate. But when any religious group and especially one that our country is currently at war (after all, how many times have you heard of a Lutheran hijacking a plane!) uses our laws and rights to promote their world wide vision which curses the infidels (us), then it is high time to make sure every one is playing by the same rules.
