Trying to work my way out of a desperate situation. Does anyone know of someone who would be willing to give a short-term (3 month) loan with a boat title for collateral? The boat is worth twice what I need to borrow.
Unfortunately my debt to income ratio is too high for the bank to do it. My mortgage payments and Christmas are riding on this.
I really don't want to sell the boat outright because the lake and fishing are the only things that make this town worthwhile for my family right now. I will sell it if I have to....just hope it doesn't come to that.
Any ideas? I know I'm grasping at straws here....
Thanks!

Tell me about the boat and what kind of funds we are talking here.
Do you have some job skills where you could earn some extra money?

Back to page topThe boat is a 1985 18 ft. Forester with a 1992 140 HP Suzuki. It also has an 8 HP Suzuki kicker with a 3.1 HP Minkota trolling motor. Other extras include Kenwood stereo with four speakers, marine radio, Eagle fish finder, canvas boat top, Spartan trailer.
Looking up the boat with all the extras on the NADA website valued it a little over $5,000. I'm trying to come up with about half that much.
As far as my job skills, I do have a college degree. I'm employed by the biggest search engine on the web working from home. Unfortunately, they make us take a three month hiatus after working for 12 months. I'm on unemployment now but go back to work on December 23. With the lesser income from unemployment, combined with higher utility costs this time of year, AND Christmas with three young children at home equals a very, very tight budget and bills that are falling behind.
Thanks for asking!

Back to page topWell, you could try a payday loan if you can qualify - but it sounds like you shouldn't have too many problems. IF you're going back to work with the same employer, and you'd been steadily employed up until the three months off, you ought to fine.
