Minnesota Vikings

No votes yet

As a born and raised Minnesota Vikings fan, I was so disappointed yesterday by the performance against arch-rival Green Bay. The team played so well against the Bears earlier this season. I thought for sure they would get crushed by the Bears but when the just narrowly lost, I was impressed. So how, then, could they lose to Green Bay?!?!?

I personally belive they are all over paid. Why not have a base salary for each player with incentives for performance. Every time a player gets a holding penalty, you subtract $2,000 from his base wage. If the penalty costs us points, the pay penalty is $5,000. Every catch you make is worth $2,000, if you score, you earn $5,000. Do you suppose it would be incentive enough?

The NFL would never go the route of a pay-for-performance contract. There is too much money being pumped in by the networks to change to that payscale format. Plus, can you imagine the paper-work nightmare? How on Earth would you be able to keep a salary cap'd league? You'd have to dump the salary cap, effectively turning the NFL into another MLB where you can buy championships... *cough* New York *cough*

Regarding the Vikings loss to the Cheeseheads; In today's NFL it's not WHO you play, but WHEN you play them. For example, our opponent this week, Miami. Four weeks ago we would have rolled over them and their terrible defense. However, four weeks later here we are... hoping and praying the Vikes can pull off the upset. Yep, that's right. Miami is favored by 3.5 points.

The NFL is loaded with talent. It's just a matter of momentum and the players' mood. Case in point, Randy Moss. People think he's a selfish punk. However, he's simply voicing the opinion of many players around the league. I'm sure many of them don't "get up" for the game because they know they are going to lose. Miami is once again a good example. Two weeks ago they were being ripped to shreds by former Dolphins for being a disgrace to the uniforms. That week, they used that bulletin board material to "get up' for the game and BAM they take down the Bears.

Can you imagine trying to play for the Cardinals right now? Yuck!

How could you not favor the Dolphins over the Vikes ?? The Vikes have a horrible offensive play calling strategy. It also don't help that the line can't give Brad Johnson some time to hit any of his recievers. When you look at the defense, they can't stop the pass. Tommy Kramer would even look good playing against the Vikes at this point. Myself, I'm looking forward to next year already when hopefully Mr. Johnson retires and Jackson will step up just fine. What cn be the worst case scenerio, have another loosing season. Also, I think the Cards will be an excellent team once Leinart has time to develop.

The point I was trying to make is how much things can change in three weeks. Three weeks ago, the Dolphins would have NEVER been favored by 3.5 points.

We are agreed on the passing defense of this team. We've been like that for ages. We made Chad Hutchinson look like the second coming of Joe Montana... Chad friggin' Hutchinson!

If the Vikes lose this week, it's time to sit Brad. His "caretaker" mentality isn't there any more. He's careless with the football and makes poor decisions. Mind you, he has about 1.5 seconds to make those decisions with this terrible O-line in front of him. Bollinger can't possibly be any worse. I'd hold off on Jackson. You don't want to throw him in there and risk an injury or worse yet, a blow to his confidence. Let him sit this year. It did wonders for Philip Rivers.

Also, the comment about the Cards was for THIS year. I've got Leinart in a keeper league. He's going to blow up once Denny gets run out of town.
