Hi readers!  Just a note from the webmaster regarding The Daily Journal's new website.  We've heard from those of you who don't like or hate our new site.  Please bear with us.  Change, as we all know, is sometimes painful but is done with the best intentions to make things better.  Just look at what's become of Icebox Days. Please look around the new site, stay a while, maybe even find someone to chat with.  The coming days will bring more news that you're used to, local stories posted daily just as before. We appreciate each and every one of you and just ask for your patience in this new adventure.

Just wondering if in the coming days the photos for each month will be included. I think the new format will be great once we learn how to navigate it. I like the registered user part, maybe those of us not in Int'l Falls will be able to connect with someone up there and possibly chat some. Hope everyone stays warm up there!!

I love to read the Daily Journal online, as I no longer reside in the Falls. I was sad to see the recent changes made to the website. The page is very stark yet cluttered with a boring font and too much white space. It looks like a page that a student designed in class. Please give us some local pictures to look at! Over all I like the old website alot better, but I will give this one a chance.

I agree with everyone on here... the old site is way better.as an avid reader of the journal on the internet, this webpage is way to clustered, hard to find the things you are looking for. Also, whos bright idea was it to change the name of ICE BOX DAYS and the date?? First goes the big thermometer and now ice box days? I am suprised that ol' smokey wasnt moved somewhere. what a joke that is....

I've read about the Ice Box Days, but what do you mean, "First goes the big thermometer"? Did someone take it down? Please, tell me! Ever since I left the Falls, things sure have changed. I'll be waiting to hear about this...

I love to read the Daily JOurnal on the internet. I no longer reside in the area, but my friends and family do and I love to know what is going on in their area. I must agree with the other posted comments that this website seems stale....the old website had better color and different fonts and photos. Will this website evolve?

I have to agree with the others that the old website was not only much easier to navigate, but this new format is much harder to navigate and seems to be lacking in all areas. I would be much happier going back to the old format any day. I moved away from the area almost 14 years ago but my family still lives there as do friends so I love having The Daily Journal online but would prefer the old site again over the new site. Please Change Back!!!!!!!

Back to page top

I think the new web site is very nice from a technical and professional perspective. It's organized well, aesthetically pleasing, and efficient.
The website designers did a nice job.

However, it lacks the unique feel and flavor of the old website. The old one was comfortable, familiar, and had it's own character that made it seem friendly.

The new site is a better representative of the business side of The Daily Journal. The old site was a better representative of the community of International Falls.

I'm not sure how to capture both on one site. It won't be easy.

I'm not a fan of the new site either. Some people think Ice Box Days depicts the Falls as a "cold place". Well the new Journal site is definitely colder than any winter day I've spent in town. It's very impersonal being basically black and white. I think this site should be welcoming and "homey". To a lot of people that no longer live in town this is their link to what's going on back home. Plus if I was moving to a new town I'd check out the newspaper. The new Journal site doesn't give a person that home town feel I'd look for. Not to mention if I was a sponsor I wouldn't be to happy that to get to the link to my business a person has to scroll over to the far right side of the page. At least that's the way it is on my computer.

Unlike most posts, I actually like the new lay-out. It's extremely easy to navigate. People tend to shy away from change. The website is no exception. It'll just take a little while for everyone to get comfortable with it. Good job on the new design!

Icebox Days
I heard today that there is going to be a vote about the name of Icebox Days. The vote is going to be tomorrow, November 22, 2006. They are asking citizens to call the KGHS Radio Station. I understand from the add on the radio, you must call between 9:00am and 10:00am, and the results will be shared during the lunch hour. Please call to vote and let others know so we can have a good idea of the communities opinion.

Things always change good or bad some do it for thier own convience and well others think they are doing it to help but aren't. Believe me we see it everyday here where I live. Like our schools here went to this desil fuel made from corn that is supposed to help the air we breathe but when it came to get very cold the lines froze and well little kids were stranded and other busses had to go around picking up kids and drivers alike. This is change not for the best here in Fort Wayne Indiana.
