When he decided to come out

When he decided to come out of retirement, I would be willing to bet that did not think that he would have the points lead after two races. I think he will stick it out and drive a full schedule, how can you justify not finishing a season that has started out so successfully.

I will stick with Kasey. And

I will stick with Kasey. And yes, I am one of the gals in the commercial that sigh and crash into things when he's sighted.
I hear that Mark Martin says he won't be behind the wheel for Bristol in March. But with his points, I'm figuring he will be there. Any thought?

I think Martin stays. He has been around long enough to know that he would need to race all races in order to be in contention for the title and wouldn't that be a great way for him to finish his career. Even I was voting for him to win last week (course that could be because Jeff was out of the game). Maybe not having a crew chief at the first few races has something going for it...look at Jimmie last year and then he won the cup. Nahh..don't want Kenseth to win the cup this year.

OK, so maybe not Kasey Kahne

OK, so maybe not Kasey Kahne this year, or Dale Jr.But I guess Kenseth did OK without crew chief Robbie Reiser. Again, maybe the driver should get spanked a little more. But what about Mark Martin? First he's going, now it appears he might be driving for longer. But now he ays he won't be behind the wheel at Bristol in March.Any bets? I say he'll stay since he's at the top of the cup points standings.

As far as Toyota is

As far as Toyota is concerned I think that all drivers use Sterno in their intake manifolds. It increases the horsepower and makes the cars a tad bit faster. Doesn't anyone think that it is funny when a car qualifies on the pole at something like 183 - 185 miles per hour, but when the race starts no one can touch the qualifying speed. Two cars are faster than one so you would think that race speeds should be faster than qualifying speeds but they cannot touch them even in the draft.

Waltrip cheated and got caught, but he proved his medel when he was able to race his way into the 500 in a back-up car, that was on pure skill without cheating (at least without getting caught).

As far as DEI is concerned, a part of me hopes that no deal is reached. It is my own selfishness that would like to see Junior in a Black #3 for RCR, that is because I miss the car. I think that Teresa was able to take over the business due to the lack of a will, who knows what Senior's intentions were, but I would bet that it was for DEI to go to Kelly, Junior, and Kerry. Not to Teresa, it is just my little take on the soap opera As the Wheels Turn.

Blogs are so much fun.

Blogs are so much fun. Spelling doesn't matter and it doesn't require any serious research. Just toss out a subject and let people have at it. Nice to see journalists put to such productive use instead of wasting their time investigating or providing context for the important issues of the day. Ahhh, progress.
Don't get me wrong. I'm no killjoy and can engage in trivial discussion on far too many topics. But it just seems more resources are being spent on the website than devoted to producing a quality newspaper. If the blog has become the DJ's preferred form of journalism, could it at least deal with some meatier issues? For example, it could be used to spark discussion on the war in Iraq, the state's renewable energy bill, the growing field of presidential candidates, the efforts to pass a statewide smoking ban or a half dozen other issues that deeply affect our community.
So much of this prattle resembles television morning news shows that skirt meaningful issues to concentrate on celebrity gossip, fluff pieces, opinion polls and helpful hints to improve your love life.
Does this bother anyone else?

Hey, booting the whole team

Hey, booting the whole team for a race sounds interesting.

Anybody got any thoughts on Toyota's entrance into NASCAR? Did Micheal Waltrup's team give Toyota a black eye even befor the races started?

And what about Dale Jr. and Teresa? Will they work out a deal, or will Jr. walk away to another team? And what will happen to DEI? Clearly, Jr. is ready to start winning again and it sounds like he blames DEI for not spending enough money on the cars.

I can't wait for Sunday to watch the next episode of All My NASCAR.

If Jeff cheated, then I say

If Jeff cheated, then I say treat him like everyone else. However, if it was due to mechanical failure and had happened during the race would they have said "you didn't win, you have to go to the back"? I agree that maybe fining is no longer enough and they should boot the driver for a race. The driver's all say they don't know what the crew chief and crew do to the car but maybe they should start knowing and take the heat. Like Joe said..happens in every other sport. I say boot the whole team for one race and see how often cheating happens after that. If they don't suspend the whole team, the owner just finds another driver for that week and no one would learn anything except the driver who lost out on that weeks points.

I am a huge race fan. I too have attened Nascar races and there is nothing like it. What I do not understand about Nascar is why if you are caught cheating, you can still participate in the event. I do not "hate" any one driver, but if you are caught cheating, I fully believe that you should not be able to participate in the event. Nascar is the only major sport that seems to tolerate cheating. If you get caught cheating in the MLB, NBA, or NFL you not only get a fine, but you may also get a suspension.

I still think Jeff's great driver.
What do you think about kicking the driver's out as penalty for cheating?
Some thought Jeffy got off pretty easy.

Laurel you trader..haha. What happened to Jeff? I think Nascar is like anything else - if you don't like what you see, don't watch it. I enjoy watching dirt track racing but will take Nascar as long as I get my fix for the week.
I'm a huge Jeff Gordon fan (I know, he's gay, he's a whiner, etc)but that doesn't matter. I have been his fan for many years and don't plan to jump boat anytime soon.
I would love to see Jeff win the title this year but I after watching Sunday's race, I'm thinking "Smoke" may be the one to worry about.
I envy anyone that has been to that many Nascar races but like Laurel, I don't do it. Hopefully sometime in this lifetime I will get to at least one.

So, NASCAR's superbowl race, Daytona, launched with controversy, family problems and the big one.Should driver's be made to sit out races when their teams are caught cheating.
