On October 11, 2007, my wife received her immigrant visa to enter the United States legally. She can go from Canada to U.S. freely. The visa is good for two years. We are pursuing the next step to adjust her status and make arrangements for her becoming a citizen of the United States. She was processed at the local port of entry and is in the data system. To all of you fine people who gave us timely advice and support, we are very grateful and sincerely appreciative. She is so glad to be HOME! (Side note: Two weeks before, she needed a doctor's note for work. In Canada, it would have cost $169 plus the doctor's fee. I suggested we go to the Falls Memorial Hospital's urgent care. She was checked over, given her note and it didn't cost us a dime!) God Bless America!

I hadn't read any of the colorful additions to my blog recently and my, what a way it has veered off, like what does hating Canadians, African-Americans, and xy chromosomes have to do with my wife and I and our immigration story. Thanks anyway to the input, but here is the latest update. We are awaiting the decision from the U. S. Consulate in Montreal on whether my wife will receive an immigration visa or have to travel there for another interview. We believe that the visa will arrive via Canada Post as we had to send her passport. Anyway, until next time, thanks to all, (especially you roj2000) on all your help!! As they say in Canada, Merci!

So sorry, my apologies! I tend to generalize way too much, without knowing all the facts. I guess I'm tending to stereotype Kooch County folks as Lib's, since Kooch and I think Mower County (Austin, MN) were the biggest voters for Kerry in 2004. I have to admit that I listen to Michael Savage quite a bit, and some of my diatribe, tends to be a reflection of him. But then I turn on O'Reilly and he brings me back down to earth. I "truely" believe he is a good and honest person, who is trying to do good with his shows. Rush, Sean, etc . . . ., get old real fast. I also tune in Alan Colmbs, from time to time. I have no problem with you voting for Dole, but why? Better than Clinton?? Just curious. You are right, Bush 41, got a raw deal from Ross "the boss" Perot. 41 is a real nice and decent person, and his loss hurts me today. His son has really let me down. I still think the world of him and back him, but I just hope someday, that I will be able to find out why he made some of the crazy decisions he did. So, why can't someone get behind Joe Biden. There is a President if ever there was one. Enough of this Hillary and Obama stuff. I don't care what party they are from, if they have the "qualifications", then let them have the job. I know I throw out some caustic remarks, but one of the purposes is to get people talking, and discussing ALL issues. I don't care if they grind me in the dirt, but at least they are communicating and getting involved. As for France, I think they may be getting back on track in the so called civilized world. Stop worrying, roj2000, you are an excellent writer with a great sense of timing. I usually love reading your stuff. My point, if I have one, is to encourage others to share their opinions without being blasted, not by you because you do it generously as with norpole, but ungenerously. If you disappeared tomorrow I and everyone here would miss you; in fact, I always wait for yu and the stuff that your wake stirs up -- even when I disagree with it about 95% of the time. If this medium is about anything it is about chiming in.
PS. I really did vote for Bob Dole and really do think that George H.W Bush should have been a two term president instead of his son. If that qualifies me as a liberal then we are all in trouble. I also like the idea that France just elected a conservative, Sarkozy. But even caring about France probably makes me a liberal again. So it goes.

Nicely said, as usual!! I guess you're the I-Falls answer to Dennis Miller. Too bad he is a "right winger" (so sorry). I love how you very discretely bring me into the "equation", of your disertation. From the beginning of my rambling on this blog site, I have never tried to be covert. Just look at my user profile. Maybe I should take away the ability to contact me, because I have had some rather bizzare contacts. They claim to be from I-Falls, but cannot possibly be from this solar system, unless they are using some of the welfare assisted recreational drugs available in the Falls. You say this was a "once lively" blog, until some of us spoke up, right?? Please don't patronize me like that. I read the blog for a long time, before, I decided it needed another perspective, other than "yes your honor, Ms Mayor, may I have more of the same". And we appear to be on another (lower) level of the educational ladder, than you and the rest of the Falls bloggers, who inhabit it? I personally thought I was "dumbing down" to the lower end of the spectrum, when I was making my comments. But you are an educrat, and much more educated than I, and the rest, so we will bow down to you. But, we will not go away. No matter if you "lefties" try to shut down the "Right" leaning talk shows, or "us" who lean the other way with our blogs, you are going to have to try harder to silence us. Why can't the "Lib's" come up with their own "successful" talk shows, rather than try to shut us down?? Oh sure, we hurt people's feelings, because we tell a little bit of truth. The comment "Don't you people think . . ." got me thinking [always a dangerous thing] about something simple that once made a Canadian a world celebrity: "the medium is the message." His name, of course, was McLuhan and he showed up in the movie Annie Hall playing himself, making fun of a person like me who pretended to know what he was all about.
What he seemed to be saying was that if he had put his famous line into a blog [couldn't -- died before blogs] none of us would be talking about him because blogs are short-term, ephemeral things that are unlikely to be read someday [despite what self-servo feels], so the malformed, poorly constructed, misspelled fragment is perfectly appropriate, Gopher 61: we ain't participating in high brow culture here.
The other message I seem to be noticing, especially recently, is that there seems to be an inverse relationship between quality and quantity. In fact, we might see the day when this once lively blog becomes a dialogue between two pseudonyms who seem to have no other worldly fascination than spouting talk radio epithets and responding to each other's voices.. By the way, anonymity is also one of the messages of this medium [making it similar to bathroom walls] and the only reason I don't become anonymous is because the stupid system has locked me in and won't let me become the person I would really love to be. So just imagine that Thomas L. Johnson is really my pseudonym and I am really stopisland65 in my real life. Because I really am.

I am blogging today hoping to find answers. My wife is a Canadian citizen and we have been trying to get an immigrant visa for her since March 3, 2003.
