Terrorists are not stupid. Crazy? Yes. But they are not stupid. They are more informed about the state of our borders than the average American living on those borders, so no one is handing out information that is not already known.

I do agree with your advice about posting too much personal information and I try to keep the personal information I write at a bare minimum. However, troykelli is an adult that is perfectly capable of making her own decisions and posting whatever she feels comfortable posting. I'm sure she appreciates the concern (I'm assuming this since I don't know her), but again she is an adult. And if you really want to get nitpicky, you have just summed up all of the information she posted and made it that much easier for those "sickos" out there.

Great that you found a house in the Falls. I hope you come to enjoy and love the area as much as the rest of us. And my support to you as a law enforcement family. Hello IFalls - our trip up

Hello IFalls - our trip up there was successful - we came, we saw, we bought. Yep - we found a house - we loved the town - and we experienced the smell - kinda like bad pickles the day it was wafting into town. hehehe.

I am still very excited about getting up there in two weeks. Your town has a little bit of everything, such a welcome change from where we are now. And it is BEAUTIFUL up there. Oh my gosh - we were just amazed everyday at the trees, and the water. Just exploring the area and all the parks is going to be an adventure in itself.

Thank you again for everyone that gave us their input - you were all helpful and without it I would have been a little more lost than I already was.

We truly believe that this move is a blessing from God = finding a house, selling our house in TX, and moving close to family. What more could we ask for?

I can't wait to get the truck packed and actually have grass in my back yard instead of scrub and goatheads - to actually walk barefoot outside again.

I hope you find Borderland a fine place to live and play. I recall the famous philospher...Disraeli, I think, who said "Your mind is its own place, and in its place can make a heaven of hell and hell of heaven". So life is pretty much a matter of what you make it.
International Falls is a great place to live. As with any community, it has its good points and its bad, and you can make of it what you choose. I think you will enjoy it very much.

Welcome to I. Falls !!! I'm sure you will make some good friends here. We're not all bad. We have lots of stuff to do both in the winter and summer. You just have to want to get yourself involved and get out and meet new people. I feel this is a good community, and a good place to raise kids. Yes, we have our drug problems and such but I don't think it's as bad as other places.(not yet anyway)
There are lots of sports for the kids(basketball,t-ball,hockey,dance, etc.) and for adults we have dart teams, pool leagues/bowling/curling(Ft.Frances,Ont) I'm sure you'll do just fine.

I used to live in West TX and also on the AZ/Mexico border, so I know all about the dirty wet dog smell! lol :o) I guess burnt hotdogs and cooked cabbage is better than wet dog anyday!! :o)

I'm not sure how your condition will affect your tolerance of the winters up, but I don't think they are as bad as some people say. I mean, when it's cold you can always put more clothes on. When it's hot, you can only get so naked! LOL I'm originally from a very hot and humid part of the country and I adjusted quite well... and my children are definitely snow babies now! Anything above 80 and they nag about the A/C! lol Just like their MN-born father!! :oP

I don't think you'll have to worry about being shunned up here. In general (and as long as your co-worker isn't a local in the running for the same position as you are lol), people are really friendly and welcoming. Especially at the church I was blessed enough to be invited to by the wife of my husband's co-worker. And we actually found that finding a home to rent (to give us more time to find a house to buy) was easier on us because of our steady gov't income... landlords tend to like that kind of thing! lol :o)

I'm really glad to hear that you'll be closer to your family! That makes SUCH a difference. I've been away from my family for almost 10 years now with very few visits and almost no holidays spent with them. I'm looking forward to OUR move so that we can be a little closer to them. I can definitely understand how excited you are about being closer to your family. It gets really lonely (and expensive when buying plane tickets lol) being far away, doesn't it?

Based on your posts it seems like you have a great sense of humor and would be a really great person to get to know! I hope I run into you sometime! And again... welcome!

That is a beautiful place, but out of our price range. The whole area around it is nice and the home is beautiful. We are sticking around the $55-70K range.

With my Fibromyalgia, and my husband working lots of different hours, being out on that much land may be difficult during the winter for snow removal.

I really appreciate the preview, it sure is a beautiful place. One of the places we are looking at is a (well they call it a victorian but it is actually a craftsman) on 5th street. Lots of charm and potential.
