So yesterday they broke up a small al-Qaida cell that was planning mayhem in Vienna and days before that it was Frankfurt and the sly fox has us believe that Bush or Fred are the answer. From my perch in Austria, I see the role of the US as one of two options -- throw your weight around or throw your influence around. Anybody remember "shock and awe?" Worked spectacularly to bring about democracy in our times, didn't it? Here's the other side. I was in Munich last week and walked past the buildings where the Palestinians did the first television terror act. That was 1972 and that was at another time we thought B52's could solve all our worldly problems. They don't. In fact, we now have a period where any disgruntled group of teenagers anywhere starts planning mass murder in the name of Allah. So we need friends to watch our backs; the current crowd, unlike even the flawed Bill Clinton, or George H.W. or even the Gipper, still thinks we can ram it down their throats. It doesn't seem to work that way. So who has the greater chance of influencing the world in the next four to eight years, a washed up actor who is best known for playing a submariner in a Cold War movie [even Gipper was better than that] or someone who understands that influence weighs more in the end than throw weight? We've seen the mess made by the neocons; it's time for some influencers. And yes, I slept well.

F.R.Bronco,
Do not worry,

F.R.Bronco,

Do not worry, we all read and heard your "original" statement loud and clear. It was good, albeit, rather deep and profound!! I went off on a little tangent, in hopes of drawing the cunning "Professor Johnson" out of his current environment, and back into our "Jib-Jab"!! And dog-gone-it, it worked! But, just think, we are still reminded each year and have parades, etc...., on December 7th. And, only about 1/2 of the number of people were killed that day, as compared to 9/11!! I think we should be reminded the 11th of EVERY month, until, ALL Americans have woke up to the fact that those radicals over there are out to kill us ALL!! If you want a real treat, read verse 9:11 of the Koran, and if they were smart they would read it and see that the "EAGLE" is going to swoop down and take care of them! So keep it up you Islamic Nutjobs, and when we get President Fred Thompson in power, you will wish you never started 9/11! But they may get lucky and get the dream ticket of Clinton/Obama, and we will open our arms and let them just come into our country and raise holy hell! Hopefully in my lifetime, G.W. Bush's "fruits of labor" will finally finish sowing the seeds of Democracy in the Middle East. Of course with a little help from President Fred! By the way, F.R. Bronco, can you translate your initial comments/message, so that I can grasp the full meaning of it? Oh, by the way Professor; I will sleep like a baby tonight!! But tomorrow I will ask, "Haben Sie gut geschlafen"!! But as Rudy Guliani once commented, "you can go out into Times Square and hand out $100 bills, and people will criticize you for handing out too much, and some will say it is too little, and some (libs) will say it wasn't distributed fairly. But no matter how much you are criticized, (ME), ALWAYS stay true to what you believe in. Sleep Well, Y'all!!!!

Not exactly the type of thread I intended, but I guess my hopes were set a tad too high. I guess my message was lost in all the rhetoric I typed.

It's not easy to forget who we are and why we are here when the journal continues to print out dated district court news..Does this practice annoy anyone else or is it just an issue for me? I am quite sure some locals enjoy reading this crap however I for one do not! Iam quite sure the space used in the journal could be better used for positive material. My guest, from out of town, asked me if the crime rate was really that high up here and i had to explain to him that most of this stuff is 1 to 2 years old. Yes it happened but why bring it up again? this practice is not in good taste and in my opinion should be stopped!

By now we all know roj195o's

By now we all know roj195o's act but does the actor ever look back over his shoulder to ask, "Do people really think I am as stupid as my words and thoughts make me out to be?" I know he is a sly fox who sets his trap -- you can smell the musk in the air. So I willingly walk into it with my own question: "In which way are we better off than were were six years ago?" Elect Fred and you get an even lesser actor than Ronald but likely one slightly more advanced in his dementia -- or does Fred fail to string ideas and thoughs together just because he is used to a better script than his handlers are providing him. Or is it just because he is a Republican? God bless us all. for assuming the nutjobs are not us. Schlafen Sie gut.

I'm glad they had a 6th year

I'm glad they had a 6th year memorial yesterday, to remind the "Demo-rats" what these radical mulsims did to us a few years ago, and if the Dem's don't get their heads out of the sand, the 9/11 attack will look like a picnic!! I would recommend not moving to any large city in the U.S., because I think these rats have their weapons of mass destruction already in place, and just waiting for the head nutjob overseas to give them the go ahead. Maybe that will be Ms Clinton's welcome aboard present, (if the USA is dumb enough to elect her). If there is a God, then Fred Thompson will be elected, and all of out troubles will be over!! GO FRED !

It's easy to forget who we are, why we're here, et al, and it's a shame that for the rest of our lives we'll be reminded, sharply of who we are and why we're here on Sept. 11.
