Mailings regarding a $25 refund because of a class action lawsuit are not fraud, according to the Minnesota Better Business Bureau.

A representative from the Minnesota Better Business Bureau confirmed today for Journal staff that the refund offer is legitimate.

A nationwide settlement agreement was reached in July in a consolidated federal class action lawsuit about use of certain payment cards for foreign transactions.

The lawsuit concerns the prices that cardholders of Visa and Mastercard brand credit and debit/ATM cards and Diners Club cards have been charged to make transactions denominated in a foreign currency or with a foreign merchant.

Under the settlement, defendants will pay $336 million to create a settlement fund to pay monetary claims by eligible cardholders, the costs of administering the settlement and notice to cardholders and any court-approved fees and expenses to attorneys for the class and awards to the class representatives.

Journal staff also confirmed the information with an anchor/consumer reporter with the WGAL news broadcast in Lancaster, Penn., who said they confirmed the story with two sources.

Well here it goes---some of you have talked about fear and boundries, boogiemen and control.Who do you think is to blame for allof this? We the American people who have become so complacent and spoiled.Who do you think voted these people into office? You talk about have to take off your shoes show i.d.'s and whatever else but yet not one of you has brought up the fact that the children in many schools today have to go thro metal decters,have a lock down proceedure and have the drills, locks on the school room doors, random locker checks,cameras watching their evry move. Their innocence has been striped. Is this from terrorists? No this is from a citizen of the U.S. This is ok but God forbid don't have security for people coming into our country who are the terrorists who have been brainwashed, trained to kill who will look like joeblow next door, student in college,businessman or gramma bringing in perogies. Now people are being killed while doing something as simple as shopping. Will we have to have metaldecters to entry a mall and then have armed guards while we shop? This is not going to go away folks. I dare you to stand in front of the families that had a loved one killed on 9 ll and tell them what you have wrote here.
