You must be talking about me, little ole roj2000!! No, I'm not the infamous Servo or 04 fellas. Many folks on here and even the Daily Journal would back me up! I know I have problems, but not nearly as many as that person. So you can rest easy. Believe it or not, I am 100% sympathetic with you when it comes to the noise, etc., you experienced at the motel. What I was trying to get across, is that this happens all over the country when workers such as this congregate to work on a job. And I was being facetious when I made the church comment. My point being was that they ONLY know how to behave this way. So, what else do you think they are capable of doing with their down time. Going to church is not on top of their priority list. I have nothing against church, so, again, rest easy, my friend. Also, I have never been a drunk (just a sailor) and I've never smoked, but you must admit, ex drinkers and smokers, tend to go to the other extreme, once they decide to quit. I did not mean to put you down with my comments. You see, I'm just little ole roj2000.

Funny, recently (with big fan-fair) a blogger that had two different avatars ending in 04, said he was leaving town. He hated Christians and churches. I blogged that he did not leave town and we would hear from him again using names I'd figure out by simply seeing the same writing style.

You wouldn't by any chance have several names that you drop (one by one) when things get hot . . . would you? I'm not saying that you're this guy, I'm not accusing you of this, understand, just wondering.

Funny how folks attack the bearer of news they don't like. Instead of realizing that hungover workers can cause problems overhauling a boiler system, petro-chemical refinery, jet engine, nuclear power plant or NASA Space Shuttle . . . it's easier to attack me personally by either saying things like: "... there is nothing worse than an ex-drinker or ex-smoker!" (or) "aren't you the guy who believes in flying saucers?"

If you disagree with me, Fine. But give me a rational argument. Do not hide behind an attack on my person. Okay?

I suggest that you want to "kill the messenger," because you can not come up with a good reason supporting hungover foggy headed maintenance workers doing critical inspections.

If you are soooo certain that there's "nothing worse than a reformed drunk," please tell me which is better: A Mongo cab ride in the '70's when I was crosseyed drunk . . . or . . . would you prefer to ride with "a reformed drunk?"

You are wrong to say that there is nothing worse than a reformed drunk. What's worse my friend, is a practicing drunk. Folks sporting your line, are usually (alcoholics in denial) trying to defend themselves (and) their habit.

So is this something new in I-Falls, or any other town for that matter?? Heck, this has been going on in the Falls since the time of the loggers. They would come into town, drink their fair share of adult beverages, and then make their way to one of several "houses of ill repute" that dotted the downtown landscape! I remember coming into town for a visit in the early 90's and the town was littered with some group called "Beekers" or something like that! I guess they did good work, but they were "raping and pillaging" their way through the city. They would have put a crew of drunken sailors to shame with their antics. In my years of travel, I have come to expect this kind of behaviour from these groups of workers. What else is there for them to do to unwind after a long work shift. I would hardly expect them to go to church each evening, and stay after for milk and cookies!! I did notice that many I-Falls young ladies and some "married ladies" had alot of fun with these sort of "denisons" of the Falls. I would guess that many of the "Beeker babies" should be ready to gradute from Falls High. I would doubt that these characters took the babies back south with them. Like they say, there is nothing worse than an ex-drinker or ex-smoker!! Nuff said!!!!

Hung over and going to work has happend to most of us a few times in our lives. I think what Mongo is trying so hard to say is, he wants to be a part of the fun but he can not relate anymore, so now he suffers from OBFS ( old bored fart syndrom)
Thats when you have to much time on your hands and you got to make everyone around you unhappy like himself. This Buds for you Mongo!!!

I don't know how else a person could read it. Just not getting what you're saying here. BTW you could direct your concerns to Boise itself I would think they would be better to handle your concerns then on a blog. It would be the most direct and fastest way to help you out.

How is it that I seem to be exagerating? I have reported word for word what I heard. You've never seen a flying object you could not identify . . . OK, fine, well and good. Do not confuse my eye witness testomony with your belief that I must be irrational because you have never seen something odd in the sky. I do not drink or smoke dope anymore. Not for twenty years now. I have no ax to grind. I was not and am not looking for stories to write about. I have been living for the last ten days with loud, bosterous, drunken behavior. Every single night. Why would I make this stuff up?

First where else could I address this issue better?
Second even if they aren't working under poor physical circumstances, something I did not say, mistakes happen. That is why they are called accidents. If however the workers are coming in under less than their physical best (hungover, drunk sick, tired) then the resulting incident is no accident, but something else. I have seen what can happen to workers or friends who are injured by some else's negligence, that was my point.

concernedperson.....if you are so concerned why don't you address these so-called concerns to the proper channels? In one sentence you are saying they're the best and the next you are saying they aren't coming to work in the best condition. Which is it? I'm quite sure you are very accepting of the money they spend while they are here tho. Let's see what else you or whomever has to struggle to find out about these workers who work shoulder to shoulder and are always looking out for each other.

I would be more concerned with crooked corporate heads trying to save a buck than the contractors and their skilled men. After 12 hours a guy or gal can pound 6 to 10 beers, have a bite to eat and get to sleep and be ready for their shift, as a matter of fact I don't know of too many people who don't do that once in awhile. Thanks for the 17 days of spending guys, remember, take a vacation and bring the family.

Perhaps you guys are right that those involved in the shut down are the best. I know that even the best are capable of mistakes. So if they are coming to work not in the best of condition, perhaps Mongo could be right. Something to think about.

Int’l Falls welcomes the Big Union guys currently refurbishing the Boise plant from stem to stern. For sure, local merchants get a well needed boost, especially the folks who sell booze. These boiler makers not only repair them by day, they drink them by night. “We work hard and we play hard,” slurred Daryl Pettibone (not his real name) as he staggered from his truck totin’ a half gallon of Wild Turkey from the front seat. “I’m back BOYS!”
