As I once in awhile stepped into that saw with my overheated passion, wishing you would come along, I did fail to remember you didn't have one.

Point well taken.

I agree with some of your sentiments but will ask you directly how your passions and interests would be expressed differently if you were not using an avatar yourself. Everytime I toss something out, there are people I know and who know me who are reading it. So when I recognized that this character was going to force me into an anger mode that would cause me to say things I would regret, i just decided to avoid that possibility. But I wasn't very successful in convincing anybody else to follow my example so they ran into the unguarded buzzsaw of this guys hatred of religion. And they really didn't have to. That is where I rest my case on this one.

With everything you post

With everything you post (with an ability I wish we all had ) you most certainly show you easily could have. For me alone I say, I still wish you had. Oh well, maybe a different time and avatar.

No hard feelings Tom. Just a few avatars that wouldn't allow me and my passions to rest. Sometimes my wife has to say the same thing to me, "Get off of it, or over it"! Enough said sir.

As for the owl, you would need to scroll to near the top of this thread. There I go again.

Have a Great evening.

Curious phrase, "many of us

Curious phrase, "many of us wondered where you were . . ." I can give you chapter and verse where I ceased to have anything to do with that person. I announced it this way: "Most of us do get along -- famously. When this thing goes into the toilet, as it has again, it is fairly easily to figure out the problem. It's kind of like when your car runs really well exept when you buy gas at one particular gas station. The fix is easy enough: avoid that gas station. This particular gas station likes to change its name with regularity -- bad brands do that -- and it will stop a motorist or concerned person in the middle of a commute to offer some of its tainted gas. My only question is this: what would motivate this particular service station to insist on becoming a disservice station? In this economy of words, it is time for us to withhold all future business with this station. I mean this: no matter how tempting the offer, remember that the place is rotten to the core of its being. At least the being it chooses to offer to this unwitting public."
I withheld all business from this polluting station and broke my silence only to laud his send-off.

If you read the last lines I wrote, I made it clear that I wasn't going to miss him from this blog. And I don't. But what is the owl?

"Your obvious intelligence

"Your obvious intelligence gave you an advantage over many of your opponents, many of them sincere believers. I found myself feeling fiercely protective of them even when I knew that their arguments were weaker than their passions".

Many of us wondered where you where when it came to stepping into his fray. You hid in the background until the very last day. On that day he gave you a compliment and you seemed to gush, as if the teacher was now his student. We will never know what you might have said, but it would have been enjoying to see your fierce protectiveness of us as we jumped into his fray, all the while knowing our passions and arguments were weaker than his. One thing we can all be sure of, it wasn't you who drove him off. Should Have/Could Have/Didn't!

Yes, there have been and always will be great contrarians, but they used their high IQ's, high fi heads and long playing tongues just slightly more professionally. His was only used in a Daemon like fashion to spew sludge from the outer limits of his warped immature mind. It turned my stomach to think of what possibly could have been brought, but we all had to wait until the very end, just to catch a glimpse of it.

I don't think any of us

I don't think any of us drove him off, do you? He was a missionary of a sort and when he failed to get any converts, I imagine he did what all missionaries do: he shook the dust off his feet and moved on.
Of course, it might have been you who drove him off. Or concernedperson. Who knows, but he also took roj with him. Imagine for a moment that jackpine/joespoon/servo is really roj. I've always suspected that roj has more personalities than Herschel Walker, so until he can prove the opposite, I will assume that is true. It makes more sense that the aluminum-tube yellow cake theories that led us into the Iraq war in 2003.

Your "Great Contrarian"

Your "Great Contrarian" states he's leaving and for the very first time posts in a human and friendly manner as he exits and now you have a seat on his bandwagon?
If you require more on putting bullets in the heads of twelve year olds, or how his world would be a better place if millions of useless people were slaughtered, or his ability to take a machete to anyone or anything connected to God, he did leave his email address for you.

Sound's like you have just put on a black helmet and cape and with a hard breathing raspy deep voice said "Jack I'm Your Father".

By the way would you have a guess on which one of him drove as he left?

Great Contrarian? Well spoken sir.

All of a sudden it got

All of a sudden it got really quiet in the room. There was a crazy English poet and artist named William Blake -- the Doors took their name from his phrase, the doors of perception. Anyway, this Blake had a phrase that applies to the blogging space: "Without Contraries is no progression." So we lost from our room a great contrarian. Of course, roj is still here and mongo and a host of the minor prophets. [Minor just means you don't write as much as some of us who love to belabor minor points and revisit major ones]. In the past, someone has always stepped into the contrarian gap, although it does seem that it has always been the same person. So we await the next crazy poet.
Anyway, I've got to go out and clean the new snow off my car and go get that haircut I've been promising to get.

Good luck in whatever you do and where ever you go. I hope you find what your looking for. Feel free to come back anytime you think the need arises. I don't know much but I figure where ever your going there is no paper mill, no burner road, no 130 pound sturgeon and no walleye or blueberries, not that any of those would matter to you. Good luck if you need it, just good if you don't!

Sure he's moving . . . to a new avatar, not a new state. The man doesn't know how to tell the truth. He lives to mess with people. He would fake his own death, to see hear the eulogy . . . like he's doing right now. Watch this space for a new blogger who sounds exactly like servo/joespoon/jackpine. He may call himself something like HarryChest04 or lollypop6, doesn't matter, one can't help writing in one's own style.

Us Republicans just keep on telling the truth, and try to stay "fair and balanced"! Just ask Norm Coleman.

Thank you for your generosity. I did realize that I needed to withdraw from responses to your provocations to prevent myself from becoming as nasty to you as I might have wished to become. Your obvious intelligence gave you an advantage over many of your opponents, many of them sincere believers. I found myself feeling fiercely protective of them even when I knew that their arguments were weaker than their passions. It has been an interesting ride in both of your personae though you never really lived -- at least no more than George Orwell. Tschuess!
