Anton is speaking to us in some new-fangled version of Morse Code. I'm expecting that some former submariner will be able to decocde his grunts and m's and tell us what is going on. My first though was that he was poaching deer again and had a gutting accident and that these are his pleas for help. Anton, hold on. I would like to personally thank those who regularly order on-line and purchasing from coorporate America. In addition to fostering competition it generates profit margins that feed dividends for the stock and mutual funds I personally own. Thanks again!

I still think that the Chamber should have ordered the flowers locally. They should have paid a little more just so they would be supporting local business. How in the world is this town ever going to get on its feet if the businesses themself (which is what the Chamber is made up of) buys from out of town. Maybe all of the Chamber members should sell their merchandise at cost so that locals will shop here. Doesn't make any sense. This banquet is to honor the local businesses. What a joke.

I have received a very cordial and satisfactory response from the Chamber concerning the flower purchase they made. The information given by the DJ was accurate in that little or no profit is made by the local shops contacted, at least one local shop, being a member of the Chamber, was in fact contacted on this occassion and on other occassions and the "new" Chamber organization is committed to fostering a good and healthy business climate in the area.

If the Chamber had thought this through, it may have realized the florist considered it good will and good advertising. I would have thought with the change in leadership at the Chamber, their services would have improved but I guess not. Perhaps an "online Chamber" should be formed!! I would hope the existing members of the Chamber will remember this "slip in judgement" (other terms come to mind) when going to renew their membership!

The reason the chamber ordered the flowers from online is that the local florist does not make a profit when the chamber orders flowers locally and so the chamber is not taking money away from the florist, according to Betsy Jensen, president of the International Falls Chamber of Commerce.
