Nice Rog, I lived in town on 8th Ave. The house I delivered the DJ to was on 8th Street, which could have been his mothers house, and it seemed he was always there, more than likely looking after her and taking care of things . But I do remember he had another place somewhere. He always came across to me as a very kind man.

Growing up, I lived across the road from his home, and I still remember when he came home with his new Hall of Fame ring, and he let me try it on. I could almost fit it over my hand. I also remember those huge hands as they grabbed us one night when he caught us raiding his garden. And I also remember the day Man first landed on the moon. We were playing ball in his front yard, and because he had "popped the top" on a few, I actually struck out the Great Bronko. He told me that he "let me strike him out". Maybe he did. If so, it sure made me feel good.

What a Man, What a Man. I had the pleasure as a boy and teen to deliver the DJ to Bronko 5 days a week. He truly was a gentle giant of a man. Once a month when it was time to collect for the subscription fee and knocked on his door the gentle giant with the soft voice and big smile would greet me. I'll never forget those unbelievable hands. Man they were huge! What a Man!
