Wow...um...I personally have known Shannon for years (since kindergarten really...) and I think she's super.

Shannon has active family members that live in the falls, as do I, so we share a common interest - making the Falls a better place for our family that still live there. Blogging and an online forum such as this one is a simple way to stay involved.

It's easy for a handfull of bloggers to hide behind their names and make personal criticisms. Go ahead. The merit of your postings will speak for themselves when you're hiding and pointing fingers.

Maybe you two girls should start at the beginning of this blog and you will see the point was made that this has nothing to do with race it has to do with actions of some of the football players from the college, and if you do have some friends from the team that treat you with respect thats good maybe they can teach their teammates some respect and there wouldnt be problems.

I guess anonymity only matters to you when it is a criticism. You didn’t seem to have a problem with anonymous users a couple of hours ago when you wrote "Thanks for having my back roj!" Unless you know someone by the name of roj2000?

And you are educating people? If you are so interested in sharing your wisdom, maybe you should tell your good buddy roj that @ means “at” not “about” as he loves to use it. Or is your education only reserved for those who challenge you?

A little consistency might make your arguments more convincing.

As for my personal life, that's my business. I may or may not have a husband, do you have a husband? And since when has it been illegal to be friends with 20/21 yr olds when you're just a few years older? You must HATE Demi Moore...she's with a guy half her age.

Wow. Shannon. I hope you can take criticism as well as you can give it. I guess it wasn't just your lame poetry writing skills that kept you from having friends in high school. Perhaps you could take some time off from your important blogging responsibilities and get a few hours of therapy so you can get over high school like every other grown up. Maybe then you can cultivate some real adult human relationships rather than sit in front of your computer all day and comment on the grammatical shortcomings of others.

I hate to quote bad poetry, but wasn't it you who said "when she's hollered at by a coach or teacher you snicker...When she's teased by your friends, you howl." Isn't that what you just did to this person, who was not being the least bit insulting or rude, just because they presented a point that contradicted yours?

At least high school kids might not know better than to make fun of others rather than consider their point of view. What's your excuse?

Mid-to-late 20s (it's funny how you didn't mention "husbands" in your list of the things you have) and you're friends with the football players??? If you're in your mid-to-late 20s, the latest (say, if you're 25) you should have graduated RRCC was 2001. That's the year BEFORE football came to town. And, if you're 25+ years old and hanging out with 18- & 19-year old football players, you've got some issues that may need to be addressed anyhow.

As a side note..."there were comments made"...and "there probably ARE incidents --- you must not have had Stoiber for an English teacher or he would have at least taught you proper English.

Well it's funny to read that you're assuming we're 16/17 yr old girls. LOL.

But really, we're in our mid-to-late 20's, we have children, families, jobs, educations and open-minds. By open-minds, We mean that we're not afraid of change in this area. We love to experience diversity, and to welcome others from out of the area to experience our culture.

I understand our comment was out of sync from the recent comments in this thread, but there was comments made that disturbed us and we had to speak our minds.

We know that there probably IS incidents that have happened at RRCC and that not all of the Af.Amer. student athletes behave like that. Out of the guys we know, and spend time with are serious about their education, they're trying their best to succeed in their goals. But lets not hate on them collectively for the actions of some. We've met some great people that are from out of the area, and we're happy we've done so.

And to mom_of_four,["My daughter wisely made a decision to no longer hang out with this crowd that hangs out at the college and in these guy's dorm rooms."] I give you much respect because your daughter knows better than to put herself in a situation like that. I wish all these other girls would have the same frame of thinking. These girls go to the dorms, but why? Its obvious the impression that they're going to give these guys by going to their dorms.
