Lee and Carol Grim are scheduled to discuss their experiences in South Africa with Borderland residents at 7 p.m. Thursday in room H118 at Rainy River Community College. The talk is part of RRCC’s “Let’s Talk Colloquium.”
The Grims spent two weeks in South Africa while auditing a course at Clemson University called “Ecology of South African Savannah.” The Grims knew the instructorof the course, Bill Bowermann, who spends time every year banding eagles in Voyageurs National Park, Carol Grim said.
The Grims flew into Johannesburg, South Africa, before they traveled to Kimberley, South Africa.
They then spent five days in the Kgalagadi National Park. The park is a transfrontier park that spans between the two countries of South Africa and Botswana.
In the park, they drove around taking photos of animals and listening to different lecturers, Carol Grim said. The lectures were on different areas, such as biology and anthropology. The Grims also saw over 120 different species of birds while there, Carol Grim said.
