Borderland Briefs

Book club
Rainy River Book Club will gather for dinner at 6 p.m. Monday at the Holiday Inn. Book for discussion is “Case Histories” by Kate Atkinson. Call 286-5289 for more information.

Aquilo League
Aquilo League will gather for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Thunderbird Lodge.

Kabetogama AA
An AA meeting is planned for 7:30 p.m. Saturdays downstairs at the Kabetogama Methodist Church. Call 218-875-3048 for more information.
Red Hattitude Kats
The Red Hattitude Kats will meet at 1 p.m. Monday at Hardee’s.

‘Sloughgrass’ band
The “Sloughgrass” band will perform at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Faith United Church of Christ, 1001 Fifth St. The general public is welcome. A freewill offering will be taken. For information, call Peter or Beth Johnson at 283-9029.

Pie social
All present and past Ranier residents and families are welcome to a Ranier Centennial Pie Social from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Ranier Community Building, to gather and reminisce about Ranier’s colorful past. The committee will purchase all pies from Grandma’s Pantry and will be serving pie, ice cream and beverage. There is no charge. Musical entertainment will be provided by local talent.

Open swimming
Open Family Swimming will take place 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Falls High School Pool. All ages are welcome. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Cost is $1. This is a Community Education sponsored event.
