Class of 1941
Falls High School Class of 1941 will gather for a noon luncheon Wednesday at the Holiday Inn.

Borderland Reads
Borderland Reads summer 2008 discussion of Cracker: the best dog in Vietnam by Cynthia Kadohata will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Falls Public Library. All are welcome to join in the discussion. Refreshments will be provided.

Super Sack Lunch
A Super Sack Lunch Sale, benefiting the Good Samaritan Society nursing home and welcoming the Christian Motorcycle Association No Border Rally registrants, will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Rainy River Community College lunchroom. Menu consists of ham or chicken salad sandwiches, chips, cookies and lemonade for $5, eat in or take out. The public is welcome to attend.

Community sailing
Rendezvous Yacht Club welcomes the public to Community Sails on Sand Bay Tuesday and Aug. 26 at 6:30 p.m. leaving from the Ranier Dock or Fort Frances Government Dock. Children must be accompanied by an adult and have a property sized life jacket. The event will be canceled in the case of lightning, otherwise rain or shine. Safe Routes to School
A Safe Routes to School Workshop is being offered to all members of the community. Independent School District 361 welcomes students, teachers, parents and community members to attend the interesting and valuable workshop slated for 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Falls Elementary School Library. Ideas and input from the public is encouraged as Safe Routes to School Programs will be described, their importance for children and the community, a kick-off event for fall is planned, and work begins with the city toward improving walking and biking throughout International Falls. Those planning to attend or requesting more information may contact Tim Everson, Falls High School principal, at 283-2571, ext. 104 or Rachel Amdahl, Community Education Director, 283-2571, ext. 109.

Summer potluck
Northern Lights Quilters Guild will meet at 6 p.m. tonight at First Lutheran Church for a summer potluck. Members are asked to bring a dish to share and a favorite recipe for the recipe book. Guests are welcome.

Backus Arts and Crafts Festival
In conjunction with the International Falls Bass Championship, Citizens for Backus/AB is sponsoring the Backus Arts and Crafts Festival. The festival will be in City Square with the bass tournament on the north side of the street and crafters/artisans on the south side. This community family event will include arts and crafts, music entertainment, parade, food booths and games. Festival hours are 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Retired electricians
Retired Boise Cascade electricians will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Barney’s Family Restaurant.

Sportfishing club
Rainy Lake Sportfishing Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Elks Club.

Ray picnic
The Annual Ray Community Potluck Picnic is planned for 4:30 p.m. Sunday, rain or shine. Refreshments and meat will be furnished. Bring utensils.

Open swimming
Open swimming will be from 6:30 to 8 a.m. for adults Monday through Friday at Falls High School Pool through the month of August. Open swimming for children and families will be Monday through Friday each day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the pool throughout the month. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Swim tickets (10 punches/$10 or 20 punches/$20) may be purchased in the Community Education Office.

Fifty-Five Plus
The Fifty-Five Plus group will meet tonight at Evangelical Covenant Church, 1631 First Ave. E. Potluck will begin at 6 p.m., with the program at 7. “Free Indeed,” the family singing group from Bemidji, will be in attendance.

‘Celebrate Recovery’
We’ve all been hurt by other people, we’ve hurt ourselves, and we’ve hurt others. As a result, every single one of us ends up with some sort of hurt, hang-up or habit. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-based, 12-step program and the group meets every Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Evangelical Covenant Church. Everyone is welcome.

The Lamplighters
The Lamplighters, an on-going women’s support group for survivors of incest and/or childhood sexual abuse, will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays at the Sunrise Center Against Sexual Abuse, 203 Third St. Facilitator is Pam Bechik, MA in Psychology. A light meal will be provided by Domino’s Pizza prior to each group meeting. Pre-register by calling 283-9334.

Open horseshoes
Men, women and teenagers are welcome to play open horseshoes from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Kerry Park. No experience is necessary.

Elks meal
The Elks Lodge Wednesday Meal will be a 6:30 p.m. spaghetti dinner Bass Tournament Opener, which is open to the public for $5. Food will be donated by Super One. Call early for reservations at 283-3440.

Veteran StandDown
All veterans are welcome and encouraged to attend a Veteran StandDown planned for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Kerry Park Arena. Free lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.

Bowling league
The BCEC and Major Bowling League will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Timber Pins.

Video presentation
Becky and Robin Monahan will feature a video presentation of their canoe trip into Canada at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Refreshments will be served.
