Sloppy joe fundraiser
The Falls Hunger Coalition Board of Directors along with assistance from the local United Way Board will host a Sloppy Joe Lunch fundraiser for the food shelf Tuesday at Faith United Church. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Local deliveries can be arranged by calling 283-8020. All proceeds will go to the Falls Hunger Coalition’s food shelf and will count towards the food shelf’s partial match from the Minnesota Hunger Solutions March FoodShare program.

Bookmobile schedule
The Arrowhead Library System Bookmobile will be at the following stops Thursday: Orr, Lakeview Baptist Church, noon-1 p.m.; Ash Lake, public access, 1:30-2; Kabetogama Community Center, 2:30-3; Woodland Inn, Ray, 3:45-4:15. Concert bus
The Veterans of Foreign Wars-sponsored bus to Tuesday’s Border Concert at Backus Auditorium will pick up at: Hampton Court at 6:35 p.m., West Falls Estates and Robb-Ross at 6:40, Rivers Edge Villa at 6:45 and Woodland at 6:50. Master story teller in song and story, Neal Hagberg will present “Small Town Stories” as the third Border Concert of the season. “Top the Tater” begins at 4:30 at Backus.

‘Up North Old Opry’
“Up North Old Opry" appears in concert in the Backus Little Theater (The Dungeon) at 7 p.m. Saturday and at 2 Sunday. Musicians from both sides of the Border will play easy-listening country. The public is welcome. Donations at the door to benefit The Dungeon at Backus. Coffee and refreshments will be served.

‘Open Mic’
“Open Mic” is planned for Backus Community Center  at 7 p.m. Thursday. Organized by Naomi Woods, the event provides an opportunity for artistic expression by poets, musicians, singers, actors, storytellers and writers. The atmosphere is informal, and persons of all ages are welcome to attend, both as performers and listeners. The event will be staged in Reception Room 111 following the “First Thursday" soup supper. Admission is free. Call Backus at 285-7225 or Naomi Woods, 286-5481 for more information

‘Top the Tater’
The public is welcome to attend a "Top the Tater" supper Tuesday from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in Backus Community Center Reception Room. The supper is sponsored by Northern Lumber. Suggested donation of $5 includes baked potato, toppings, salad, beverage and dessert. The supper precedes Border Concert’s “Small Town Stories” by Neal Hagberg at 7:30 in Backus Auditorium. Season tickets for the Border Concert series are still available.
