Office closed
The KOOTASCA Office will be closed Wednesday in observance of Veteran’s Day. Regular business hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. In an emergency, call First Call For Help at 1-800-442-8565.

Center closed
The Solid Waste Transfer Station/Recycling Center will be closed Wednesday in observance of Veterans’ Day. For more information, contact the Koochiching County Environmental Services Department at 283-1157.

Craft fair, soup luncheon
The Big Falls CERC is sponsoring the annual Craft Fair and Soup Luncheon from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Lunch will begin at 11. Call 218-276-2282 for more information.

Veterans breakfast
A Veterans Breakfast is planned for 8 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Elks Lodge 1599. Cost is $5 each; veterans eat free. Menu consists of French toast, eggs, sausage, coffee and orange juice. All proceeds to go area Veterans Homes. For information, call Fred Wilson at 286-3191 or the lodge, 283-3440.

Volunteer training
Servants of Shelter (SOS, community homeless shelter) volunteer training is set for 5:15 p.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Parish Office, 810 Fifth St. (enter from Fifth Street). All interested volunteers are welcome. No previous application is necessary.

School recycling sale
A school recycling sale of computer monitors is planned for 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday in the Falls High School lobby. Cost is $5 each. All sales final; no early sales.

Pies needed
Pies are needed for the Salvation Army and Elks Thanksgiving Dinner at the Elks Lodge. Anyone who can bake a pie is asked to call Etta Jean Goulet at 283-9659. Also, join in ringing the bell for Christmas by calling 283-3394 to sign up.

Vets’ presentation
Indus School will conduct a Veterans’ Day presentation honoring all past and present veterans at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday. Area veterans and the public are welcome to attend.

VFW activities
The following VFW activities are planned for Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday: 9 a.m., Falls Elementary School; 10, Falls Good Samaritan Center. Wednesday: 8-10:30 a.m., breakfast sponsored by the Elks for veterans (all others $5); 8:30 a.m., Mass at St. Thomas Church with refreshments following in honor of veterans; 10:45 a.m., ceremony at St. Thomas Aquinas Hall with students; 11:30 a.m., lunch with students at St. Thomas Aquinas Hall (interested veterans should RSVP about lunch at 283-3430); and 2:30 p.m., ceremony at Indus School.

Casino bus
A bus to Fortune Bay Casino is planned for Nov. 16. Cost is $16. For information, call Donna at 283--3460 or Barb, 285-3663.
