North Star Electric
Members are welcome to North Star Electric Cooperative’s 69th annual meeting set for Friday at Littlefork-Big Falls School. Dinner and registration begins at 5 p.m. Free childcare will be provided from 6 until adjournment of meeting. Entertainment will be by Koo-chi-ching Twirlers. Business meeting will run from 6:30 to 8:30 and includes election of board members for Districts 6 and 7. Free bus service will be available. Scouting For Food
Local Scouts will be collecting food for the Falls Hunger Coalition Sunday.  Residents are asked to have a bag of nonperishable food items near their home’s front entrance or mailbox by 1 p.m. Monetary donations are also accepted. Make checks payable to Falls Hunger Coalition.  Needed most are canned fruit, canned juice, canned meat and meals, peanut butter and jelly. Donations not collected by 5 p.m. may be called in to 283-8020 and leave a message.
  
Religious education
St. Thomas Church religious education registration is planned for 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday in the church gathering space. Registration is for all classes, First Reconciliation-First Communion, grades 7 through 11, including confirmation.

Great Decisions
Great Decisions will meet from 4:15 to 5:45 p.m. Tuesday at Falls Public Library lower level meeting room to discuss the “Global Food Issue.” Contact Sue Nordquist for more information.

Bookmobile schedule
The Arrowhead Library System Bookmobile will be at the following stops Thursday: Orr, Lakeview Baptist Church, noon-1 p.m.; Ash Lake, Public Access, 1:30-2; Kabetogama Community Center, 2:30-3; and Woodland Inn, Ray, 3:45-4:15. Friday, the Bookmobile will be at: Littlefork Medical Center, 9:30-10 a.m.; Sunview Apartments, Big Falls, 10:40-11:20; Country Sampler, Gemmell, 12:30-1 p.m.; Mizpah Post Office, 1:15-1:45; and Northome Post Office, 2:15-3. Women’s Wellness Workshop
The 12th annual “Take Charge — It’s Your Life! A Women’s Wellness Workshop,” is set for Oct. 14 at Backus Auditorium. Lisa Starr, C-NP, will present on “Breast Health Awareness” and Nancy Lee, PHN, will present on “Back to the Basics: Help Prevent the Spread of Influenza.” Registration is from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. There is no charge.

ISD 361 voters
Absentee ballots will be available through Nov. 2 for the Nov. 3 Operating Levy Referendum vote for Independent School District No. 361. Ballots may be obtained at the Superintendent of Schools Office, Falls High School, Room 126, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Anyone with questions may call 283-2571, ext 183.

Ladies Night Out
Women’s Ministries of Evangelical Covenant Church will feature Ladies Night Out at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Call Punky Stadum at 240-6043 to reserve a spot until Wednesday. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Cost is $5.

Aquinas Night Bingo
