Blankets for foster kids
Friends For Fleece need donations of micro fleece and fleece fabric to make more of the blankets which go to foster children. All colors and designs are usable. Previously crafted blankets have gone to children in Koochiching County, Nett Lake and homeless shelters in the Twin Cities. Firearm safety
Firearm safety classes for students who are at least 11 years old will be conducted Sept. 22-30. A parent or guardian must register students in person in the Community Education Office at Falls High School. Call 283-2571, ext. 186, for more information, or stop by to register.
Study Group
The Wednesday morning study group at Faith United Church is beginning discussion of the book Christianity for the Rest of Us at 10-:15 a.m. Wednesday. Chapters One and Two will be discussed. An evening group is also available beginning Sept. 22 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the same two chapters.
TOPS program
A TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) program is being formed in the Big Falls area. The program is is not just about losing weight — it’s about getting healthy and having fun doing it. An organizational meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Big Falls Community Building gymnasium. All interested persons are welcome to attend.
ATV Club
The Koochiching Off Road Enthusiasts (KORE) ATV Club is meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Rumors Up North. Interested ATV enthusiasts are encouraged and welcome to attend.
Class of 1960
Falls High School Class of 1960 will gather at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Holiday Inn Lounge to plan their 2010 50-year reunion. Classmates are urged to attend and bring ideas. For information, call 286-5423.

Ray Community will gather for a meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Community Building. Coffee and cookies will be served. Everyone is welcome.
Quilt guild
Whispering Pines Quilt Guild will meet Thursday in the Family Life Center of Evangelical Covenant Church. The Annual Potluck will begin at 6 p.m. and a short guild meeting will follow at 7 for election of officers and collection of dues. A special guest will present a clinic on sewing machine care and cleaning. Members may bring machines if they want him to go through it. All area quilters of any level of experience are welcome to attend.

‘Celebrate Recovery’
We’ve all been hurt by other people, we’ve hurt ourselves, and we’ve hurt others. As a result, every single one of us ends up with some sort of hurt, hang-up or habit. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-based, 12-step program and the group meets every Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Evangelical Covenant Church. Everyone is welcome.
The Lamplighters
The Lamplighters, an on-going women’s support group for survivors of incest and/or childhood sexual abuse, will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays at the Sunrise Center Against Sexual Abuse, 203 Third St. Facilitator is Pam Bechik, MA in Psychology. A light meal will be provided by Domino’s Pizza prior to each group meeting. Pre-register by calling 283-9334.

The Gastric Bypass Support Group will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at Falls Elementary School Library. The topic will be “No Secret Ingredient.” The group is open to those that are looking into Weight Loss Surgery, have had WLS and need support of those that are a friend or family member of someone working through WLS.
