Newsletter available
The Community Education Winter Newsletter with new class listings is now available. Offerings include courses for youth and adults. Call Community Education at 283-2571, ext. 186, to receive a copy. The newsletter can be mailed directly or stop by the office at 1515 11th St. (door No. 5 of Falls High School). It is also available online on the Independent School District 361 Web site www. isd361.k12.mn.us (click on Community Education at the top of the screen).
Pancake feed
The public is welcome to attend a Pancake Feed from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Alano Club, 410 Fifth Ave.
Birchdale breakfast
A Birchdale Breakfast sponsored by the First Responders is planned for 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Birchdale Community Building. Free will donation will be accepted.
Casino bus
A bus to Fortune Bay Casino is planned for Monday. Cost is $14. Anyone wishing to attend may call Barb at 285-3663 or Donna, 283-3460.
Moose events
A taco supper will be served at 5:30 p.m. today at the Moose Lodge. Saturday, the lodge opens at noon with Bingo at 2 p.m. Burgers-on-the-Grill will be served at 6.
Craft fair, luncheon
The Big Falls CERC will conduct their Annual Craft Fair and Luncheon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Big Falls Community Building. Lunch will begin at 11.
Backus concert
The “Sloughgrass Family Band” will open for the “Monroe Crossing” concert at 7 p.m. Monday at Backus. A “Top the Tater” supper is set for 4:30 to 7.
Macular
degeneration group
The Macular Degeneration Support Group will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rivers Edge Villa. State Services for the Blind representatives Lynne Johnson and Lilly Atwel will be attendance to assist with low vision needs and questions. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Pipefitters, welders
Retired Boise Cascade pipefitters and welders will meet at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Barney’s Family Restaurant.
Snowmobile club
International Voyageurs Snowmobile Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Holiday Inn.
Class of 1944
Falls High School Class of 1944 will gather for dinner at noon Tuesday at the Holiday Inn.
Great Decisions
The Great Decisions community group of citizen education and discussion programs, about foreign policy issues, will discuss Foreign Policy in an Election Year from 4:15 to 5:45 p.m. Monday in the lower level meeting room at Falls Public Library. Maggie Kuffenkam will facilitate the discussion. The group is sponsored nationally by the Foreign Policy Association and coordinated by the Minnesota International Center, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that inspires the community to understand global issues and cultures in an ever-changing world. Community members are welcome to be part of the group, or to attend monthly sessions as desired. Contact Sue Nordquist at 283-8687 for information.
