VNP hours
Voyageurs National Park begins fall operations this month. The park has closed the Kabetogama Lake and Ash River Visitor Centers for the season. Rainy Lake Visitor Center will remain open Wednesday through Sunday, Oct. 1-Dec. 31, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Jan. 2 through mid-May 2010, 10 to 4:30. The park will offer a program each Sunday from mid-January through March 2010.

Dance/exercise
workout classes
New dance/exercise/workout class sessions begin Monday at Backus Community Center. Classes are one hour in length and are scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 to 10 a.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. There is no registration fee; participants may attend as schedules permit at $ 2 per class. Leaders are Francie Nemec-Green and Cynthia Herberg. Discounted punch cards for classes are available at the Backus office. All proceeds benefit Backus Community Center projects. ATV safety training
ATV safety training will be conduced at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Rainy River Community College for students ages 12-16. Students must also participate in a driving test the morning of Oct. 15.  Cost is $15 per student.  A parent or guardian must register their student in person in the Community Education Office, located in the back of Falls High School (door No. 5). Harvest Supper
The Women of the Moose will serve a Harvest Supper of turkey and all the trimmings from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Moose Lodge. No reservations are required. The public is welcome.

School conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences are planned for 5 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Falls High School.
