Community invited to Falls school district meeting
March 11, 2008 - 3:57pm — Laurel Beager
The community has been invited to a meeting with the Falls school district to give input on ways to improve the district’s emergency response plan. The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Falls High School cafeteria. The meeting is being conducted in response to two threats called into the school last week that resulted in the evacuation of the schools Wednesday and cancellation of classes Thursday. Falls High School Principal Tim Everson and Jerry Hilfer, principal at the district’s two elementary schools, issued the invitation to the community. “Several meetings have been held this past week with law enforcement officials, school administrators, and school faculty and staff members to discuss the school’s emergency response plan in light of the threats received last week,” said a news release. “We want to invite parents and community members to also give their input on ways we can improve our emergency response plans.”

I find it much to the credit...
Back to page topI find it much to the credit of Mr. Everson and Mr. Hilfer that they would want and ask the community for their input as to how they might make the schools safer and implement procedures that would make the parents in this community feel confident that a procedure was in place to respond to any emergency. Thank you and congratulations on your efforts to the both of you. Having said that, I find it much to the discredit of the superintendant, who is actually responsible for having done this work before the fact, and hasn't done so, in this matter and the incident previously, and has not at all responded to various requests by parents and grandparents in the community. I guess two out of three is not such bad odds in most cases but I desire to have three out of three doing good work in this instance. Again thank you Mr. Everson and Mr. Hilfer. The thanks to these two men, rersponsible for the welfare of our children, is deliberate. I wished I could have said thank you to all three men responsible for our children. In addition, I would still like to feel warm and cozy, as I mentioned to the mayor a year ago, as to the feasibility of our plans with respect to interoperability between all emergency response teams to include the OPD and other government agancies, if there is a plan in the event REA or other power grids were knocked out to the area and do we have a plan to handle a real hasmat incident without some dog and pony show I have had the displeasure to have to undo in other communities in the country. I mean, is everybody on the same page here???

Back to page topI too am very glad that they are holding this meeting for input on safety proceedures in emergencies. One thing I ask tho is was there even one to implement with the 2 threats last week? If there was it should have been carried out immediately as we have talked about. If there wasn't --why? Why hasn't the super not even given a statement ? Also Mr. Super are you going to be there? I truely hope so-- ya know what I mean?
"Shooter", I expect there...
Back to page top"Shooter", I expect there actually is not much reason for the super to be there. I mean, other then throw rocks at him, thats figurativly not actually anything I would condone, what value would he be. I mean, I have proven more then once, I can not find my hind end with both hands and a flaselight, why would anything I said now be of much value.

Back to page topAnton1965----there is a saying----"Those who get too big for their britches will be exposed in the end." I find that to be so true here.
I think your right there...
Back to page topI think your right there shooter. If the end is ever exposed, as I am sure your right about, it might well be a bloody end for sure. Just to prove something one way or the other, I guess we should have him there, if not for any other reason then to hear his side of it told in front of everyone else who might know or think otherwise. I personally don't at all think the man is capable of managing manpower and other resources in our school district. I just get the idea he sits in a cloudy fog day after day.
He also has extra time to...
Back to page topHe also has extra time to want to work at another school along with his job here in I Falls. It seems the position here should be part time.
It seems to me the position...
Back to page topIt seems to me the position should be neither part time or full time for this person. If Ely wants him, let Ely have him. We need a person who has the ability to manage our schools and require more time then what is available to do the job in. For 16 months I have seen nothing but amateurish performance and gaffes from someone with not only a part time performance but a part time mind, as well.
Anton, Bravo, wow that sums...
Back to page topAnton,
Bravo, wow that sums it up you can expect i will be there, and he definatly needs to either be here or there, i say to him if the grass is greener on the other side of the fence then jump on over to the other side cause you are doing any good here. And if you are going to be in another town running a school how can you be in this town running another school, you can't handle both so nows the time where you pick one or another.
