Anytime Fitness plans for Falls club are on hold, By TOM LAVENTURE, Staff Writer

The Anytime Fitness health club that was to open this fall in International Falls is on hold.
Anytime Fitness, headquartered in Hastings, announced plans last May to open a corporate owned club in the Falls. Most of the clubs are independently owned and operated.
“We thought we had a deal on a particular location to build an Anytime Fitness club in International Falls, but at the last minute lease negotiations became challenging,” said Mark Daly, corporate communications, Anytime Fitness.
“At this point, I cannot tell you when an Anytime Fitness club will open in International Falls, but we remain hopeful that it will happen in 2009,” he added.
Anytime Fitness has about 100 fitness clubs in Minnesota alone, and 800 franchise clubs in 45 states, Canada and Australia. They differ from the big box clubs as a 24/7 club with exercise machines, but not swimming pools or basketball courts.

Is this the SNAP Fitness store that had ads in the paper for employees?

If this is the same place, then this really trips my trigger. A new business is trying to bring jobs into this town and AGAIN it has been derailed by "challenging" lease negotiations. My opinion of that phrase is that some greedy landlord wanted more money in the closing hour.

When is this city going to see the light? You cannot hold out new business in this town forever - can't you this town is drying up? A load of houses on the market, foreclosures left and right, stores closing, what does it take? Get your head out of the big blue box and think about the next 10 years of this town's future. I love this town, but if it doesn't get its act together soon it will be on my list of addresses that I used to live at in the last five years.

I don't get it, I just don't get it.
