Fort Frances Chamber announces award recipients

The Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce recently announced the winners of the 12th annual business awards.

“We are proud to host this event each year as it recognizes businesses, organizations and individuals for outstanding achievement and the contributions made to the economic growth and prosperity of the Rainy River District. We sincerely congratulate all 84 nominees as each is just as deserving of the title as the next,” said Chamber manager Dawn Booth.

“I want to personally thank and congratulate our emcees for the night, chamber president Christine Denby and second vice president Nancy Daley for a great job,” she said.

The following awards were distributed during the awards banquet Nov. 3 at La Place Rendez-Vous:

• Business of the year (1-15 employees): Domino’s Pizza.

• Business of the year (16 or more employees): Canada Safeway.

• Entrepreneur of the year: Kevin Nielson, Shopper’s Drug Mart.

• Customer service award, individual: Lori Pochailo, Howarth’s Home Center.

• Customer service award, business: Super 8 Motel.

• Business woman of the year: Sherry Kaun, Share Bears Place.

• Employee of the year: Joe Hendrix, Northland Basics.

• Tony Beyak Memorial volunteer of the year: Gordon Armstrong.

• Small business trainer of the year: Revco Carpet Center Ltd.

• Accessibility award: Kevin Busch, Fort Frances Curling Club.

• Safety award: Kayne Shaw, Daryl’s Custom Landscapes.
