The International Falls City Council is scheduled to consider a request to designate state aid miles to a proposed reroute of the northern entrance to Minnesota Highway 332 tonight.
The Falls City Council is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. tonight in the council chambers of the Municipal Building. Audience is allowed to address the council at each council meeting shortly after it begins.
Koochiching County officials have agreed to designate a road proposed for construction between Minnesota Highway 11 East and 332 as a county state aid highway. Designation of the roadway under the status will allow the county expend state construction money in addition to federal money allocated for the project.
The proposal calls for construction of a new northern entrance to Highway 332 about one mile east of its existing location, which is also known as the Burner Road.
The county has agreed to revoke county state aid highway status on a road known as County Road 92. That designation would be placed on the portion Highway 332 proposed for construction.
The county needs the city’s approval on the county state aid highway status to move forward with construction of the Highway 332 northern entrance. Should the city reject the designation, the county may seek a legal resolution.
In other business, the council is scheduled to hear from Diane Hebner about bus transportation to and from City Beach.
The council is also scheduled to hear a report from its Human Resource Committee about a letter of understanding from the International Union of Operating engineers on classification of two positions. The committee is also scheduled to report on a summer employee for the administrative office and an in-service workshop on managing change.
Also on tonight’s agenda is appointment of William Lahmeyer as part-time patrol officer for the Falls Police Department and a resolution approving a temporary on-sale liquor license for Citizens for Backus⁄AB for March 27.
