The International Falls City Council is scheduled Monday to hear a report from a task force which conducted a feasibility study on increasing Falls Ambulance Service to include advanced life support.
The council meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. in the council chambers at the Falls Municipal Building.
The change in the ambulance service from basic to advance life support would mean patients in critical condition could be transferred from Falls Memorial Hospital to a trauma hospital by ambulance, rather than only by helicopter.
A community task force received a $10,000 grant from the Minnesota Office of Rural Health and Primary Care to fund a feasibility study examining the possibility of changing from basic life support, which is provided by emergency medical technicians, to advance life support, provided by paramedics in conjunction with EMTs.
In addition, the council is scheduled to hear reports from Sen. Tom Saxhaug and Rep. Tom Anzelc on the recent session of the Minnesota Legislature.
The council is also scheduled to consider a letter of resignation from Councilor Kelly Meyers. Earlier, Meyers was recommended for hire as the assistant building official.
An audience comment period is regularly scheduled for each council meeting.
