Littlefork to discuss structure proposal, By FAYE WHITBECK, Staff Writer

Also, sign-up set for home repair loans

Representatives from the Littlefork Ambulance Service are scheduled to speak at the regular council meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at City Hall.
The service is responding to the council’s instructions to Sam Hegge to take a plan for a new structure to house the city’s ambulances, through the proper channels.
Sam Hegge made his proposal at the last council meeting as the contractor/developer, although he also serves on the ambulance service.

LITTLEFORK — The Littlefork-Big Falls School prom was as much a community event as it was a most special night of the year for 54 students.
Parents and friends filled the bleachers to standing room only to watch the young men and women all dressed in their finest go through the annual ceremony grand march.

After another extended discussion on wetland rules and their influence regarding future building projects, the topic appears to have become somewhat stagnant.
The Littlefork City Council, in a special meeting Wednesday, decided to put its proposed Industrial Park on hold. Furthermore, it has decided to formulate some type of disclaimer to accompany land use permits issued to property owners with spring building on their schedules.

The Littlefork City Council has scheduled a special meeting for a discussion on the city’s proposed Industrial Park.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at Littlefork City Hall at 901 Main Street in Littlefork.

Nancy Burmeister is completing her final two semesters at The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth to become a nurse practitioner. She spends more time at the Littlefork Medical Center than in Duluth, however, as she adjusts to what will be her new role with expanded responsibilities.


L-BF hires new teachers, By FAYE WHITBECK, Staff Writer

The Littlefork-Big Falls school district has hired three new teachers.
Approved Wednesday was the hiring of Nicole Kennedy as a full-time kindergarten teacher; and Jeff Raboin in the position of half-time social studies teacher. Dean Lindstrom was hired was hired to teach math, half time.
The L-BF board will continue to advertise for three openings in the following positions: Spanish, counselor and home economics.

The Littlefork City Council approved Thursday an additional and final loan of $10,000 to the Littlefork Fire Department for the completion of the Fire Hall.
Fire Chief Dan Wendt was in attendance to report that the department had reviewed its budget and found only minimal amounts that could “rearranged,” and was therefore adhering to his original request.

Littlefork Fire Chief Dan Wendt is scheduled to reappear before the city council after it instructed him to examine the Fire Department’s own budget further before Littlefork disperses additional funds for the final completion of the remodeled Fire Hall.

Fire chief appeals to Littlefork Council, By FAYE WHITBECK, Staff Writer

Although much of the labor to improve Littlefork’s expanded and renovated Fire Hall has been donated by its work force, the fact that the cost has now climbed over $100,000 captured the Littlefork City Council’s attention Thursday.
Dan Wendt, fire chief, was in attendance to solicit further funding from the city, in the range of $5,000-$10,000 for the completion of some projects in the building.
“We’ve reached the point where our donated man hours aren’t enough anymore,” said Wendt.

In discussion bogged down by acronyms and government jargon, the Littlefork City Council spent nearly two hours Thursday wading through technical wetlands information from key representatives of several governing agencies.
Out of the mire, came one certainty: Issuing or receiving a building permit is no longer business as usual.
