The Littlefork-Big Falls school district is accepting applications for the positions of counselor, home economics teacher and Spanish teacher, as reported by the Hiring Committee at the L-BF board meeting Wednesday.
Application should be made to the district office of the Littlefork-Big Falls School at 700 Main Street, Littlefork, 56653 and be directed to the attention of Superintendent Fred Seybert. Questions may be addressed at 218-278-6614.
Two insurance representatives addressed the board with proposals for property, liability and worker’s compensation coverage. Tim Anderson represented Northern Reliable Insurance; and Richard Jansma represented Assured Protection Insurance. The board awarded the latter company at a cost of $38,800 to the district, said Seybert.
Bids were also awarded to the following: J&D Foods of Littlefork for bread; Land O’ Lakes of Moorhead for milk; Lakes Gas Company of International Falls for propane; and Jim’s Disposal Service of Littlefork for garbage service.
The board adopted the preliminary 2008-2009 budget showing revenues totaling $4,644,309 and expenditures of $4,550, 765.
The Building and Grounds Committee has begun work on the next five-year plan, according to Seybert, with the last plan ending with the 2008-2009 school year.
The board recognized champion L-BF girls softball team members for their first-place rank in the State Section A competition as well as their fourth place finish in the State Class A Tournament. The board is proud of the softball team and the leadership of head coach Mike Imhof, said Seybert.
Basic educational grants in the amount of $1,608 have been received, written by staff members Mary Jo Winkle and Cindy Hasbargen.
May students of the month were recognized as senior high student Paul Imhof and junior high student Richie Van Drunen.
