Vice president Beverly Beck opened the meeting of the Falls Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Nov. 4.
Bonnie Erickson, I-CEO, reported on the integration of Falls Memorial Hospital with the local Duluth Clinic-International Falls. The integration will result in the local clinic becoming a department of the hospital. A new name will be selected for the newly formed entity. The integrated facility will work to improve health care services for the International Falls and the surrounding area. A new board will also be in place.
Erickson responded to questions raised in regard to SMDC’s recent announcement to not accept certain Medicare supplemental insurance plans. Erickson referred those concerned to Karen Tveit, Arrowhead Agency on Aging, located at Woodland Apartment complex to assist in the decision making project.
Volunteers were informed they can pick up complimentary turkeys Nov. 19 at the hospital.
Erickson announced the hiring of Jim Lyman as facilities director and Kris Schmitz has accepted the position radiology director.
A request has been made by Margaret Hyatt, Environmental Services Director, requiring a volunteer to assist in the dining room on Tuesday and Wednesday between the hours of 11:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. when soup will be provided to employees.
Volunteer director Sadie Darvell reported that Carol Vohler has volunteered to work in the downstairs file room.
Plans were finalized for the bake sale set for 10 a.m. Nov. 6. Helen Billig and Edith Hopke coordinated the event.
The monthly financial report was approved as presented.
The next meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. Dec. 2 at Falls Memorial Hospital.
